Using hermetic storage method for preserving of rice seed, Phitsanulok 2 variety, in five storage packaging types; plastic bag, LDPE, Nylon, PET12 and Super bag. The experiment aimed to investigate the effect of hermetic storage method with several packaging types on rice seed quality. The split plot in RCB design was used, the main plot were 8% and 10% seed moisture contents while the sub plot were month of storage, for 24 months. Rice seed was contained in five storage packaging types with 5 and 20 kilogram during July 2012-July 2014 at Chiang Rai Rice Research Center warehouse. The result showed that seed stored at 8% and 10% moisture contents contained 5 and 20 kilogram of rice seed in four packaging could maintain rice seed quality follow the seed...

Seed drying to suitable moisture content during harvesting immediately and storage is a key factor to maintain a long-shelf life. The purpose of this research was to use the zeolite drying beads to dry rice seeds var. Phitsanulok 2 (PSL2) and Ayutthaya 1 (AYT1) to target moisture content at 6 % and 12 %. Three experiments were carried out at Prachinburi Rice Research Center during April 2012- January 2013. Rice seeds with the different initial moisture content were blended with three beads to seed ratios at 30oC, 40oC and ambient temperature. Seed drying, reducing seed moisture content after harvesting and before seed storage is a key factor to maintain a long-shelf life. The viability of rice seeds can be maintained for 5-10 years at ambient temperature if they are stored in a moisture- and air-proof container with seed moisture content of 4-6%. The purpose of this research was to study the potential of zeolite drying beads to dry rice seeds to 6 % seed moisture content. Two experiments were carried out by blending the drying beads with rice seed var. Pitsanuloke 2at three different bead to seed ratios, three drying temperatures (30 o C, ambient temp. and 40 0C ) and four drying periods (12, 24, 36 and 48 hours).
