Spatial and temporal characterization of soft bottom polychaetes in a shallow tropical bay (colombian Caribbean) OceanDocs

The spatial and temporal variations of the polychaete assemblages were studied within and off a shallow (10-25 m) tropical bay (Bahía de Portete). The polychaete abundances at family level and their trophic mechanisms were used for this purpose. Sediment samples were collected at six stations in this bay during the wet and dry seasons. Multivariate analysis indicated that off- Bay polychaete assemblages were different from the bay ones; this spatial variation was related to sedimentary characteristics, depth and turbid-water conditions. On the other hand, these assemblages did not show significant differences between the dry and wet seasons. Organic matter (OM) is an important indicator of soil quality and, therefore, must be quantified quickly and efficiently. Besides traditional methods, and countless studies with sensors have been advanced, but few integratively. This work aimed to develop models for OM content prediction using the FRX-VIS-NIR-SWIR-MIR regions separately and together. A total of 22 soil samples were collected in the state of São Paulo, Brazil (80-100 cm). Each sample was oven dried at 45 ° C for 48 hours, milled and sieved to a diameter of 0.150 mm and had a series of 8 treatments, considering the addition of humified organic material (MOH) in different amounts (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50 g). Stable isotopes in deep-sea living (stained) foraminifera from the Mozambique Channel (eastern Africa): multispecies signatures and paleoenvironmental application ArchiMer

Oxygen and carbon isotopes (δ18O and δ13C) have been investigated in carbonate tests of deep-sea foraminifera living in the Mozambique Channel (eastern Africa) to understand how environmental constraints (e.g., organic matter, oxygenation) control the intra- and interspecific variability of isotopic signatures. 197 living individuals, including eight different species, from various microhabitats within the sediment were sorted from sediment samples gathered at two stations on the Malagasy upper slope. Results show that the δ18O values of foraminiferal taxa were not controlled by microhabitat pattern. Resumo: A adição contínua de lodo de esgoto no solo agrícola pode resultar em alterações na quantidade e qualidade da matéria orgânica do solo. Objetivou-se com o presente estudo avaliar os teores totais de carbono (C) do solo e das frações húmicas em Latossolo fertilizado com lodo de esgoto e há oito anos da última aplicação. Foram coletadas amostras de solo (camadas 0-5, 5-10, 10-20 e 20-40 cm) em experimento de campo que recebeu doses de lodo de esgoto onde foram realizadas 6 aplicações sucessivas de lodo de esgoto, seguidas de 8 anos sem adição do resíduo. The impact of easily oxidized material (EOM) on the meiobenthos: Foraminifera abnormalities in shrimp ponds of New Caledonia; implications for environment and paleoenvironment survey ArchiMer

This study was carried out in shrimp ponds from New Caledonia, in order to determine the cause of the exceptional proportion of abnormal tests (FAI) (often >50%, sometimes >80%). FAI was positively correlated to the quantity of easily oxidized material (EOM) deposited on the bottom of the ponds and to the sediment oxygen demand, and negatively correlated to redox. These results suggest that a very high FAI is a potential indicator for great accumulations of native organic matter, leading to a high sediment oxygen demand. When studying ancient sediments in core samples, exceptional abundances of abnormal tests may indicate periods of high accumulation of EOM, and therefore of oxygen depletion. The shell organic content in the energy budget of Mytilus trossulus from the South Baltic ArchiMer

La quantité de matière organique et sa valeur énergétique ont été évaluées pour les coquilles de Cerastoderma glaucum, Macoma balthica et Mytilus trossulus de la baie de Gdansk, par extraction chimique et microcalorimétrie. Le contenu moyen en matière organique varie de 0,54% chez C.glaucum, à 5,21 % chez M. balthica et 5,92% chez M. trossulus. La valeur énergétique de la matière organique de la coquille varie entre 15,15 (± 1.41) j .mg-1 chez M. balthica, 20,17 (± 1,60) j.mg-1 chez M. trossulus et 23,88 (± l ,56) j.mg-1 chez C. glaucum. Переход органических веществ из прибрежных наносов в морскую воду IBSS Repository

Впервые приведены данные о количестве органических веществ, переходящих с минеральных частиц наносов в морскую воду в результате гидродинамического воздействия, для прибрежных наносов (Севастопольская бухта, Черное море). Отмечено, что количество органических веществ во взвеси в десятки и сотни раз выше, чем определяемое стандартным методом органическое вещество на поверхности минеральных частиц грунта.

Химический состав органического вещества в перифитоне системы гидробиологической очистки морской воды IBSS Repository

Впервые получены данные об органическом веществе в перифитоне системы гидробиологической очистки морской воды. Установлено, что количество белка находилось в пределах 0.5 – 2.5 мг/100 мг, аминокислот 0.01 – 0.9 мг/100 мг, углеводов 2.0 – 7.0 мг/100 мг, липидов 1.6 – 7.1 мг/100 мг, нуклеиновых соединений (свободные нуклеотиды, РНК, ДНК) 0.7 – 2.3 мг/100 мг, углеводородов 2.8 – 4.2 мг/100 мг. Количество нефтяных углеводородов в среднем составляло 1.6 мг/100 мг. The objective of this study was to examine effect of using fermented soybean meal with pineapple peel juice in diet on nutrients digestibility in weaning pigs. Twelve male weaning pigs, 5-weeks-old were used in a completely randomized design (CRD). There were 4 treatments; group 1 and 2 were 22% protein diet with soybean meal and fermented soybean meal, respectively and group 3 and 4 were 20% protein diet with soybean meal and fermented soybean meal, respectively. The result was found that digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, protein, fat, fiber and ash in all groups were not statistically significant difference (P>0.05). 有機質肥料之主成分含量及其變異 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]於1991~1995年間採集市售及肥料製造業者(包括農牧廢棄物處理中心)之有機質肥料樣品共326個(含189個品牌),依其材料性質分為,動、植物質有機肥料,堆肥(雞糞堆肥、豬糞堆肥、牛糞堆肥、樹皮堆肥)及雜項有機質肥料,測定各類肥料之主成分及重金屬含量(均以乾物%表示)。重金屬含量之調查結果已經報告。本文報告各類有機質肥料之有機質、氮、磷、鉀、鈣、鎂等主成分含量及其變異情形。 各種堆肥中有很高樣本頻率有機質含量未達規格標準。有機質含量偏低者與其灰分含量或鈣含量偏高有關。故堆肥中有機質含量之規範尚有檢討必要。 各種堆肥和雜項有機質肥料之全氮含量變域很大。全氮含量高於1.5~2.0%者即有含無機態氮機率,而全氮含量高於3%者,其機率大增。為避免施肥不當,各種堆肥和雜項有機質肥料之全氮含量高於2.0者,無機態氮含量之標示誠有必要。各種堆肥和雜項有機質肥料在製造過程中所使用之有機資材種類、比例等亦應標示,以利其施用後之氮素礦化率預測。
