Germinação in vitro de embriões zigóticos de murumuru (Astrocaryum ulei). Repositório Alice

Com o presente trabalho objetivou-se avaliar a influência de concentrações de sacarose e a idade fisiológica da semente na germinação in vitro de embriões zigóticos de murmuru. Frutos em dois estágios de desenvolvimento coletados de plantas do campo tiveram os embriões excisados, desinfestados e inoculados em meio de cultura de MS com 75% das concentrações de sais, suplementado com 2,5 g.L-1 de ácido giberélico e diferentes concentrações de sacarose: 15, 30 e 45 g.L-1. Na natureza, geralmente, não é possível obter a germinação de sementes de orquídeas sem a presença de fungos micorrízicos, sendo que apenas 5% dessas sementes chegam a formar novas plantas. No entanto, com o cultivo in vitro é possível a germinação assimbiótica de até 100% das sementes. Neste contexto, objetivou-se com o presente trabalho avaliar o efeito de diferentes meios de cultura sobre a germinação de sementes e crescimento inicial de plântulas de Sobralia Rondoni in vitro.

A pimenta longa é considerada uma espécie promissora por apresentar a perspectiva de tornar o Brasil autosuficiente na produção de safrol, importante óleo essencial usado como fixador de fragrâncias e com propriedades terapêuticas. Na implantação de áreas destinadas à cultura dessa espécie é necessário avaliar a qualidade fisiológica das sementes utilizadas na formação de mudas. Germination in seed species ingested by opossums: implications for seed dispersal and forest conservation BABT

Seed germination in plant species consumed by opossums, genus Didelphis, was investigated in southern Brazil, in order to improve knowledge of the strategies of zoochorous plants in the Neotropics. Seeds were obtained from opossum feces. Thirteen of the most frequent species in the diet of local opossums were tested for germination rates and germination responses under different qualities (red/far red ratio) and different intensities of light. Most seeds from feces germinated similarly to the control groups, except for seeds of Rubus rosifolius, which appeared to depend on gut passage. Germination of Jacaranda mimosifolia (D. Don - Bignoniaceae) seeds: effects of light, temperature and water stress BABT

Investigations were carried out to study the effect of light, temperature and water stress on the germination of seeds of Jacaranda mimosifolia which showed the minimum and maximum germination temperature at 15 and 40º C, respectively. The optimum temperature was 25º C with high percentage and germination rate. Slight promotive effect of white light was observed. Under water stress conditions the effect of light was high but at optimum temperature no effect of light was observed. At -0.9MPa few seeds germinated.

Among them, the germination behavior of seeds is of major relevance because it is influenced by environmental factors of invaded ecosystem. Here, we investigated how seed traits and seed tolerance to environmental factors on seed germination of Calotropis procera vary depending on the invaded ecosystems in northeastern Brazil. Abstract Vriesea incurvata in the natural environment shows some difficulties associated to the low seed germination capacity. Aiming to provide basis for the seedlings production, the results of the seeds germination percentage and the initial growth of V. incurvata seedlings in vitro conditions in different culture media, are reported. Seed germination of fig seeds is important for obtain seedlings with high variability in breeding studies, and for producing mosaic virus-free seedlings. This experiment was carried out to evaluated the effects of several treatments (priming with water for 24h, GA3 at 500 and 1000 ppm for 24h, 3% KNO3 for 24h, and stratification at 4°C for 7, 14 and 21 days) on seed germination and emergence of ‘Bursa Siyahı’ and ‘Sarılop’ fig cultivars. The application of GA3 increased the germination and emergence of these fig seeds. The highest percentages of germination and emergence were obtained with GA3 at 500 or 1000 ppm for both cultivars. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito da infusão e óleo essencial de camomila [Chamomilla recutita (L.) Rauschert] na superação de dormência de sementes de pimenta rocoto. Utilizou-se cinco tratamentos: T1 = controle, T2 = sementes imersas por 2 h em infusão de camomila, T3 = sementes imersas por 5 h em infusão de camomila, T4 = sementes submetidas à solução com óleo essencial de camomila e T5 = sementes imersas por 5 h em água destilada. However, evaluation of this trait under field conditions is limited by environmental variation, which makes it difficult to identify genetically superior lines. Interaction of temperature and light on seed germination in Tecoma stans L. Juss. ex Kunth (Bignoniaceae) BABT

The effects of the temperature and light on the control of seeds germination in Tecoma stans was studied in the present work. The influence of constant temperatures from 10 to 45ºC, with 5ºC intervals, under the white light and darkness were tested. The optimum temperature for the germination of the seeds was between 25 and 30ºC, for both the light and the dark treatments. The maximal germination was reached in the range of 15 to 35ºC under the light and of 20 to 40ºC in the darkness. The seeds showed highest synchronization of the germination near the optimal temperature. The germination in the field was tested under the two light conditions. Recently several studies have alerted about the toxicity of substances present in medicinal plants, which can pose risks to the human health. In this sense, the present work aimed to investigate the phytotoxic, cytotoxic and genotoxic action of three guava varieties - Paluma, Pedro Sato and Roxa ("purple") - on the plant test system Lactuca sativa L. ABSTRACT - The mobilization of seed proteins from Pisum arvense L. during germination in the absence of light was studied. The seeds were found to be completely consumed 22 days after germination and seedlings ceased growth after the 18th day. SDS-PAGE indicated that the main protein bands correspond to high molecular mass storage proteins which undergo proteolysis in the initial stages of germination and are not detected after the 7th day of germination. However, the corresponding lectin profiles were detected during the entire germination process, suggesting that these proteins are strongly resistant to seed proteolytic enzymes and should be important for seedling establishment. Seeds of A. nudicaulis and S. floribundus were collected in a restinga located at Presidente Kennedy (ES, Brazil). This sandy community is characterized by the presence of patches of vegetation interspersed by open areas with a sparse plant covering. In order to evaluate the capacity of A. nudicaulis and S. floribundus to recruit individuals from seeds in the distinct microclimates generated by this heterogeneous plant covering, experiments were conducted in laboratory to test the effects of light and temperature on the germination for both species.
