Dodder Transmission and Microscopic Observations of Red-bird Cactus Witches’ Broom Disease Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]The red-bird cactus witches’ broom (RbWB) was transmitted from infected red-bird cactus to periwinkle by the dodder Cuscuta chinensis Lam. Free hand sections of RbWB infected periwinkle and red-bird cactus showed specific blue staining of Phloem cells with Dienes’ stain under a light microscope, and specific bright fluorescence of phloem tissues under a reflecting fluorescence microscope. Similar sections from healthy plants gave no reaction, which indicated the presence or infections of mycoplasma-like organisms in the phloem tissues of infected plants. Etiological Studies on the Banana Bunchy Top Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]Hand-section of tissues of bunchy top diseased banana plants were examined under a reflecting fluorescence microscope. A distinctly specific bright fluorescence was observed in these phloem tissues of lamina veins, midribs, sheaths, corms and roots. Symptomless suckers taken from infected stool also gave a weak fluorescent reaction. These specific reactions were phloem-limited, and were not observed in the healthy banana plants. Leaf sections prepared from both diseased and healthy plants of banana were also examined under light microscope after treatment with Dienes’ stain. Host Responses of Peanut Witches’ Broom Disease Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]The results confirmed that the peanut witches’ broom disease (Pn WB) could be transmitted to peanut, tomato, potato, alyce clover, purple bean, globe amaranth, periwinkle, I pomoea obscura and I pomoea triloba by insect vector Orosius orientalis, but no infection was found in sweet potato, loofah, cucumber, strawberry, water spinach, balsam pear, paulownia, creeping wood-sorral, chinese morning-glory, I pomoea pescaprae, Chenopodium amaranticolor and C. quinoa. The PnWB affected plants developed typical witches’ broom symptoms, and the symptoms of PnWB on tomato plants resembled those of tomato big bud or witches’ broom disease. Mycophasma-like Organisms Assoeiated With Witches’ Broom of Wild Balsam Pear in Taiwan Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]The witches’ broom disease on wild balsam pear was newly found in an isolated areas near Shui-li, Nan-tou county in the central Taiwan in 1984. The diseased plants showed typical witches’ broom symptoms comprising bushy little leaves, green flowers and abnormal conical shoots. Numerous pleomorphic bodies, characteristic of mycoplasma-like organisms (MLO), were observed in veinal sieve elements of the diseased leaves under electron microscopy. Mycoplasma-like Organism Associated with Eggplant Phyllody in Taiwan Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]The phyllody of eggplant (Solanum melongena) was a newly recorded disease found in the Penhu Islands in Taiwan in 1986. The diseased plants showed the yellows symptoms comprising green flower and malformation of leaves. The disease agent was transmitted by grafting. Numerous pleomorphic bodies characteristic of a mycoplasma-like organism (MLO) were observed in veinal sieve elements of the diseased leaves under electron microscopy. The Latent Period of Peanut Witches’ Broom Agent in the Vector Orosius orientalis (Research Note) Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]The minimum periods of the acquisition and inoculation feedling for the insect transmission of peanut witches’ broom disease are six hours and one hour, respectively. The minimum incubation period of the disease agent in the vector Orosius orientalis is 11 days. 落花生簇葉病病原之經由南斑葉蟬(Orosius orientalis Matsumura)媒介傳染必需之最短獲毒吸食時間為6小時,最短接種吸食時間為1小時,媒介蟲體內之最短潛伏時間為11天。

嵌紋病對玉米生育之影響及篩選抗病品系應用於田間之效益 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]B型玉米矮化嵌紋病毒(MDMV-B)及A型、B型、D型、兩耳草(sourgrass)型及S-1分離株甘蔗嵌紋病毒(SCMV)都是玉米嵌紋病的病原,經以酵素連結抗體免疫分析(ELISA)從1983年至1988年調查之結果,以MDMV-B在田間發生的頻度最高;再經溫室苗期測定病原性及田間試驗評估各型病毒所造成的經濟為害度,亦以MDMV-B最為顯著。裂區設計的田間試驗比較MDMV-B接種與不接種的玉米之生育狀況,結果在預備試驗中統計分析病毒感染所造成的間接影響並不顯著,因此本研究的主要試驗都只比較病毒接種的直接效應。從1986年至1988年,三次田間試驗之結果,發現MDMV-B感染顯著影響玉米生長並造成嚴重減產,最高可達47.9%,一般推廣之飼料玉米減產22─29%,臺農1號減產則在20%以下,明顯異於感病品種之反應。從1983年至1989年共篩選2808個玉米品系僅11個呈抗病反應,172個呈中抗反應,324個呈中感反應,餘皆為感病反應者。選其中呈不感病反應的八個青割玉米品系進行田間試驗,其生長與產量較不受MDMV-B的影響,結果與惑病的對照有明顯差異。選育中的超甜玉米品系七個,經田間試驗證實MDMV-B惑染後,株高、莖軸、產量等均明顯受損,且品種間反應程度有差異。 B strain of maize dwarf mosaic virus (MDMV-B), strains A, B, D, and sourgrass of sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV-A, -B, -D, -Sou), and undetermined isolate of SCMV (S-1) are all causal agents of corn mosaic in Taiwan....

梨次病毒之瓜苗檢定 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]採集凍存本省臺中地區梨品種幼葉並製作次病毒(viroid RNAs)接種源計145個材料、經於春夏季間進行梨次病毒之瓜苗檢定(cucumber assay)結果、供試6個品種145個梨幼葉材料中、發現有27個材料在接種之胡瓜指示植物(Cucumis sativus L. cv. Sūyō)呈現典型viroid病徵。在春夏季間其初期病徵顯現之潛伏期為43─58天。上述胡瓜病葉材料經重複回接在胡瓜(cv. Sūyō)結果皆得相同之病徵反應、該瓜苗指示植物在接種後6─8週呈現捲葉(leaf curling)及葉脈透化(vein clearing)等初期病徵、在後期呈現頂端黃化(top yellowing)及矮化(stunt)等特異性病徵。此項瓜苗檢定之病徵反應結果與日本佐野等報告之hop stunt viroid group相近似。 Pear viroid inocula were extracted from 145 leaf collections including six pear varieties cultivated in Taichung district. 玉米品種間對矮化嵌紋病毒之反應 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]溫室苗期法抗病檢定超甜玉米品種(Honey 236),飼料玉米推廣品種(臺南16號、臺農351號和臺農1號),選育中之玉米品系(臺農育TA85W─2 ) ,及自交系(TA80─1410)等,結果顯示供試品種(系)對王米矮化嵌紋病毒B型系統(MDMV-B)皆呈感病反應,但依發病百分率及發病速率來判斷,六個供試材料中以超甜王米Honey 236最為感病,臺農1號和TA80─1410最抗病。田間試驗發現玉米經MDMV-B感染後,對植株的開花期、吐絲期、株高、莖軸、鮮果穗及乾子粒產量都顯著延遲或減少,唯脫粒率不受影響。其中超甜王米Honey 236 的鮮果穗減產約32%,TA80─1410的子粒產量損失約40%,為反應最劇者;其次為臺農351號、臺南16號、及臺農育TA85W─2之子粒產量損失各約為29、27、24%;而臺農1號之子粒產量與對照組幾無差異,可謂為耐病品種。另外,由田間病徵,及利用酵素結合抗體免疫分析(ELISA )測定罹病株的MDMV-B含量,發現各玉米品種(系)病徵嚴重程度與植株內病毒累積量及作物產量損失率成正相關。 One super sweet corn (Honey 236), three released feed corn (Tainan 16, Tainung 351, and Tainung 1), one breeding line of feed corn hybrid (TA85W-2), and one inbred line (TA80-1410) were comparatively tested in this study. 甘藷簇葉病之兔絲媒介傳染 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]本試驗首次證實甘藷簇葉病可經由臺灣之兔絲(Cuscuta chinensis)媒介傳染。作者在本省苗栗及南投地區採集之兔絲,經鑑定為C. chinensis Lam.。以兔絲實生苗繁殖寄生在健全長春草,為傳染媒介兔絲材料,將兔絲蔓捲接寄生在甘藷簇葉病病苗,然後將該病苗生長出之免絲蔓捲接聯結寄生在供試長春草及甘藷健苗,以該寄生兔絲蔓及其吸器,將病苗與健苗相聯接達28~37 天,結果可使該病原菌質經由此項兔絲蔓及其吸器之媒介而傳染,使供試甘藷苗罹病生長出小葉病徵,使長春草苗罹病生長出葉化花病徵。此項傳染罹病植株顯現病徵之發病潛伏期為42~110 天。 經試驗證實,臺灣之兔絲之寄主植物範圍廣泛,包括各種蔬菜、花類、雜草等範圍很廣的不同科屬植物。供試30 種植物中,以長春草、絲瓜、紅菜、馬麻藤、細花野牽牛、蠶豆等為其最適宜之寄主植物。 The results of successful transmission of sweet potato witches ' broom disease by dodder Cuscuta chinensis Lam. are reported in the present paper. 甘藷簇葉病之研究(I) Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]1. 甘藷品系對簇葉病感病性嫁接試驗結果,第一批已罹病品系有臺農10號等73種。病徵分為A,B,C,D四型,不同品系之病徵有顯著之差異,可知其感病性亦有差異,由於品系間耐病性之測定可以選擇抗病性品種。 2. 11月至翌年2月間,由於冬季低溫環境之影響,各甘藷苗經嫁接接種感染後至病徵出現之潛伏期,長達4至5個月。 3. 田間發病嚴重區,不同品種間發病程度亦有差異,其發病株率計為,金瓜接44%,菜頭接20%,紅心尾5.8%。 4. 甘藷簇葉病病株熱處理結果,病株之耐溫界限為,溫水處理54℃ 5分鐘,50℃ 30分鐘,以下。在此耐溫界限下,熱處理之效果,未能殺滅其病原。 5. 本病經嫁接接種在 Ipomoea Pes-caprae sweet及Ipomoea Nil Roth之結果,顯示典型之花器葉化,枝葉短小,叢生,萎黃病微,與新海昭(1964)報告之琉球甘藷天狗巢病相類似。 This paper reports the experimental results on varietal resistance. [[abstract]]甘藷簇葉病不能經由 Ipomoea batatas Lam., Ipomoea nil Roth, Ipomoea pes-caprae sweet, Impomoea aquatica frosk, Impomoea satifera, Vinca L.等6種寄主植物病株之種子傳染。 Seed transmission of sweet potato withes’ broom disease was examined in artificially infected plants of Ipomoea Batatas Lam., Ipomoea nil Roth., Ipomoea pes-caprae Sweet., Ipomoea aquatica Forsk., Ipomoea satifera and Vinca rosea L., the negative results showed that the disease may not be transmitted by seed in different species of host plants so far tested.

[[abstract]]細花野牽牛簇葉病係作者於1977 年在臺南發現之新病害,本病病徵為花器葉化,異常分蘗叢生,小葉簇生,形成典型帚狀簇葉病徵。本病可經兎絲(Cuscuta chinensis)媒介傳染而使長春草感染罹病,並顯現花瓣葉化,小蘗叢生黃化及異常分蘗叢生之嚴重叢生型病徵,此項病徵與甘藷簇葉病在長春草顯現之輕型簇葉病徵有極顯著之差異。 The I pomoea obscura witches’ broom a newly recorded disease, was first recognized in Taiwan in 1977. The diseased plants became conspicuously stunted and showed the bushy appearance with virescence of floral organs, and the abnormal shoots grown from the crowded phylloid flowers. 臺灣太陽麻簇葉病之傳播研究 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]臺灣太陽麻簇葉病病徵為花器葉化,異常分蘗叢生,形成帚狀,叢生分枝,病株少有結實。本病可經嫁接傳染,所得太陽麻病株之發病潛伏期在32-85 天。本病不能經由病株汁液接種傳染,亦不能經由太陽麻病株之種子傳染。本病可經由南斑葉蟬之蟲媒傳播,所得太陽麻病株之發病潛伏期為48-78 天。 Crotalaria witches’ broom, a newly found disease in Taiwan, was described. The diseaed plants produced phylloid flowers, abnormal shooting from the phyllody flowers, showed typical witches’ broom symptoms, and bearing seldom fruits. The disease could be transmitted by grafting and the incubation period of inoculated crotalaria plants ranged from 32 to 85 days. The disease could not b transmitted by sap inoculation or through seed. Orosius orientalis was an efficient factor of the disease, and the incubation period of crotalaria plants inoculated by vect were ranged from 48 to 78 days.

臺灣甘藷簇葉病之南斑葉蟬媒介傳播 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]甘藷簇葉病病田採得的或室內飼養之南斑葉蟬(Orosius orientalis Matsumura)進行一甘藷簇葉病媒介傳播試驗結果,供試1,225 株甘藷實生苗中,有100株被感染罹病並形成典型叢生病徵,此項結果顯示甘藷的南斑葉蟬可媒介傳播臺灣的甘藷簇葉病。 Insect transmission tests of sweet potato witches’ broom by Orosius orientalis Matsumura collected from disease-infected sweet potato fields or art were conducted. Infectation of the disease agent was observed on sweet potato plants fed by the viruliferous vector Orosius orientalis. Of 1,225 sweet potato seedlings tested, 100 plants were infected and the affected seedlings developed typical witches’-broom symptoms. The results confirmed that the agent causing sweet potato witches’ broom could be transmitted by Orosius orientalis in Taiwan.

臺灣葡萄汁液傳播性黃斑病毒病之發生 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]本省田間葡萄呈現黃斑型病徵之病毒病害,於1982 年在臺中地區發現。可經汁液接種感染草本檢定植物Chenopodium amaranticolor 等13 種,形成局部斑點(local lesion)、黃斑(yellow spot)、斑紋(mottling)及嵌紋(mosaic)等病徵。經重複單斑分離,並由其寄主病徵反應及血清反應得到五個分離株。同接到巨峰健全實生苗亦形成黃斑病徵。應用葡萄檢定品種(Vitis indicator),分別得到嫁接導播及土壤傳播之分離株,並在檢定葡萄品種上,形成黃斑或葉脈黃化病徵。各病毒之檢定植物病葉材料,經以grape fanleaf virus (GFLV), tomato ringspot virus(TmRSV), grape Bulgarian latent virus(GBLV)及grape chrome mosaic virus (GCMV)四種抗血清之ELISA 測定結果,其中兩個分離株與TmRSV 抗血清有正反應。經電子顯微鏡觀察結果,在病株粗汁液與組織切片中,發現直徑26-30nm 之球型病毒。由以上結果顯示此兩個分離株病毒,為TmRSV 之系統(strain)。 Some virus-like disorder showing yellow mottle or yellow vein or mosaic symptoms were found in some vineyards in Taichung areas in 1982. [[abstract]]農試所及臺中地區葡萄產地之巨峰等6個品種之57個葡萄葉片材料,經製作葡萄次病毒接種源(viroid inoculum),並於春夏季間進行葡萄次病毒(grapevine viroid,GV)之瓜苗檢定(cucumber assay)結果,供試57個葡萄材料中,有23個材料在接種之指示植物(Cucumis sativus L. cv. Sūyō)呈現GV典型病徵反應,該罹病瓜苗在接種後5~7週呈現捲葉(leaf curling)及葉脈透化(vein clearing)等初期病徵,在後期呈現頂端黃化(top yellowing)及矮化(stunt)等特異性病徵,此項GV瓜苗檢定之病徵反應結果與日本佐野等報告之葡萄潛伏性次病毒(grapevine latent viroid)相近似。

蘆筍莖枯病之研究-Ⅱ.生理性質及藥劑防治 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]本試驗內容為蘆筍莖枯病病菌之生理性質及藥劑防治,其結果如次。 1. 本菌菌絲之發育,最適溫度為25℃至 23℃,最適酸度為 PH6至8,食鹽濃度以0.3至3%較好,蔗糖濃度以8%者較好。 2. 培養基中及蘆筍病莖組織中之菌絲,在低溫(-5℃)環境下,經150天尚有生活力,而以病莖組織潛伏之菌絲較強。 3. 供試Takeda-mer, Duter, Suju, polyram-combi, Brestan 60, Ditbane M45, Antracol, Difolatan。等8種藥劑,其濃度500 ppm 者皆對本菌菌絲生長及胞子發芽有抑制作用,而對缽栽蘆筍病株之防治效果,以Difolatan最好,Duter及Suju次之,Takeda-mer, Dithane M45,及Polyramcombi又次之。 The physiological characteristics and chemical control of Phoma asparagi were studied. [[abstract]]1.嘉義農業試驗分所香蕉品種保存園存有之矮腳蕉(Chinese dwarf)等35個香蕉品種,經以香蕉萎縮病(Banana bunchy top)帶毒蕉蚜(Pentalonia nigronervosa Cog.)傳染接種試驗結果,除龍芽蕉(Lung-Ya-Chiao)未顯示病徵而無感病外,其餘34品種皆為感受性。 2.選育仙山蕉及矮腳蕉之優良健苗,經以蚜蟲傳染試驗結果,顯示高度感受性呈現典型,壞疽型及劇烈型病徵,即葉片狹小直立,質脆,葉脈縮短,叢集頂端,葉脈有深綠色斷續線條,並形成壞疽型條斑及葉脈透明化病徵。 3.本所香蕉品種保存園,仙人蕉園及矮腳蕉園之田間自然罹病情形調查結果如次(於1968年~1969年間): A.香蕉品種保存園之Malaca等53品種內,計有Malaca等35種被傳染罹病,其萎縮病株率為六分之一至六分之三。其餘Lung-Ya-Chiao等18品種未發現病株。 B.1969年2月至6月間,調查本所7個仙人蕉園計1,715株,其平均萎縮病罹病株率為43%,最低達3%最高達7.5%,其劇烈型等病徵顯示該品種為高感受性。 C.1969年2月至6月間,調查本所矮腳蕉園112株,其平均萎縮病罹病株率為12.3%,其典型病徵顯示該品種為高度感受性。 Transmission Experiments and field observation on the varietal resistance to banana bunchy top were conducted at the Chiayi Agricultural Experiment Station from July 1968 to June 1969. 馬鈴薯捲葉病病原毒素在桃蚜體內之潛伏期研究 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]本試驗在探究不同獲毒吸食時間及接種吸食時間對桃蚜傳播馬鈴薯捲葉病之影響,及該病病原毒素在桃蚜體內之潛伏期。本試驗結果桃蚜經由Physalis floridana Rydb.之馬鈴薯捲葉病病株獲得病毒所需較短獲毒吸食時間為5分鐘。本病帶毒桃蚜對農林1號及P. floridana傳染病毒所需較短接種吸食時間為5分鐘。在玻璃溫室中,桃蚜經由本病病株獲毒吸食6小時後,本病病毒在桃蚜體內之較短潛伏期為18~24 小時。本試驗結果與Day (1955), Williams (1957), Stegwee (1961)及Tanaka (1970)之報告相近似。 This paper reports the relationship of acquisition feeding period, inoculation feeding period and latent period to the aphid transmission of potato leaf roll virus by Myzus persicae sulz., The shortest period for acquisition feeding of potato leaf roll virus by green peach aphid form infected Physalis floridana Rydb. plants was 5 minutes. Viruliferous aphids transmitted the virus to healthy Nunlin No.1 and P. floridana plants by inoculation feeding of at least 5 minutes....
