Adaptability and stability of reproductive and vegetative phases of peach trees in subtropical climate Agronomy
Souza, Filipe Bittencourt Machado de; Barbosa, João Paulo Rodrigues Alves Delfino; Pio, Rafael; Reighard, Gregory Lynn; Tadeu, Maraísa Hellen; Curi, Paula Nogueira.
The peach tree (Prunus persica) is a fruit species native to temperate climates that requires a chill during its hibernal period to overcome dormancy. However, due to genetic breeding, varieties are currently grown in subtropical and tropical regions where there are low occurrences of chill during this phenological stage. This study evaluated the adaptability and stability of the reproductive and vegetative phases of peach tree cultivars in a subtropical climate. An experiment was designed in randomized blocks with split time plots, with 23 peach tree cultivars and four replications, with each replication consisting of one plant and four shoots. The years of evaluated (plots) and the cultivars (subplots) were considered to be treatments. The relative rates...

Ecophysiological, anatomical and ultrastructural characteristics of Vitex polygama Cham. (Verbenaceae) submitted to different concentrations of fluoride Biological Sciences
Rossi, Zélia Terezinha Teixeira; Castro, Evaristo Mauro de; Pereira, Giuslan Carvalho; Barbosa, João Paulo Rodrigues Alves Delfino; Carvalho, Graziele Wolff de Almeida; Rossi, Marco Aurélio de Lima Silva; Pereira, Fabrício José.
Fluorides released during the manufacture of aluminum, fertilizers, glass and ceramics are considered to be highly toxic to plants, causing damages in relatively small concentrations. This study aimed to evaluate fluoride (F) accumulation and its effects on Vitex polygama Cham. (Verbenaceae) exposed to simulated rain containing potassium fluoride in concentrations of 5, 10, 15 and 20 mg L-1. Vitex polygama presented no visual symptoms of foliar injury and accumulated a relatively small amount of F-, significant only for the treatments with higher concentrations of the pollutant.  F- promoted an increase in non-photochemical quenching (qN) and in the coefficient due to non-photochemical extinction (NPQ), which indicates higher dissipation of radiant energy...

Growth and photosynthetic responses during ex vitro acclimatization of Etlingera elatior (Jack) rm smith (torch ginger) Agronomy
Rodrigues, Marcelo; Paiva, Patrícia Duarte de Oliveira; Freitas, Rodrigo Therezan de; Mansur, Thaís de Oliveira Fontes; Paiva, Renato; Barbosa, João Paulo Rodrigues Alves Delfino.
Torch ginger (Etlingera elatior (Jack) RM Smith) can be propagated in vitro, but there is currently little information about the stages of acclimatization and adaptation for torch ginger in a greenhouse. The objective was to study the growth responses, survival and photosynthetic response during the acclimatization of plants maintained on three different substrates (Plantmax forestry®, sand and 1:1 Plantmax forestry® and sand) under three shading conditions (50% red and blue shading nets and control without shading nets). The highest leaf and shoot numbers per plant and survival rate were observed in treatments with the Plantmax forestry® type substrate in the absence of shading. In vitro culture plants behaved similarly or better than rhizome propagated...
