Tooth development occurs through the interaction between oral tissues during embryogenesis. Alteration through odontogenesis may cause tooth morphological alterations, one of these could be Dens evaginatus. This anatomical variation could be originated from an abnormal proliferation and folding of a portion of the inner enamel epithelium and subjacent ectomesenchymal cells of the dental papilla into the stellate reticulum of the enamel organ during the bell stage of tooth formation. Dens evaginatus is defined as a tubercle, or supplemental solid elevation on some portion of the crown surface. First Premolar Morphometry: A Study in 54 Cases International Journal of Morphology

First lower premolars are the teeth with greater variations following third molars. Fifty four first premolars extracted by orthodontic indication from patients in Temuco, Chile, were studied and classified by age, sex and maxillar and mandible location. The following parameters were measured: vestibular-palatine diameter (VP), mesiodistal (MD) diameter, coronary height (C-O), root length and total length. The data were statistically analyzed and tabulated. The results exhibited that first upper premolars showed higher values in the VP diameter and root length compared with the lower, noting significant differences. Morfometría de Terceros Molares: un Estudio de 55 Casos International Journal of Morphology

Los terceros molares son las piezas dentarias con mayor variación de forma, tamaño, número y posición. Se estudiaron 55 molares extraídos de pacientes de la ciudad de Temuco, Chile, los cuales se clasificaron por edad, género y ubicación en maxilares. Se midieron los siguientes parámetros: diámetro vestíbulo-palatino (V-P), mesio-distal (M-D), altura coronaria (C-O), longitud radicular y longitud total. Además, se cuantificaron número de raíces y cúspides para cada molar, identificando aquellos molares con anomalías de forma. Los datos fueron analizados estadísticamente y tabulados.
