Milk protein polymorphism plays an important role in genetic diversity analysis, phylogenetic studies, establishing geographical diversity, conservation decision, and improving breeding goals. Milk protein polymorphism in Indian goat breeds has not been well studied; therefore, an investigation was carried out to analyze the genetic structure of the casein gene and milk protein diversity at six milk protein loci in nine Indian goat breeds/genetic groups from varied agro-climatic zones. Milk protein genotyping was carried out in 1098 individual milk samples by SDS-PAGE at aS1-CN (CSN1S1), b-CN (CSN2), aS2-CN (CSN1S2), j-CN (CSN3), b-LG, and a-LA loci. The water buffalo plays a key role in the socio-economy of South-EastAsia as it is the main draught power for paddy rice cultivation. While inthe Indian subcontinent the water buffalo is the riverine type, in South-East Asia the majority of buffaloes are of the swamp type. In the poorremote northern province of Ha Giang in Vietnam, improvement of theswamp buffalo breed may be one of the best ways to increase sustainabilityof farming systems. Background: Modern cattle originate from populations of the wild extinct aurochs through a few domestication eventswhich occurred about 8,000 years ago. Newly domesticated populations subsequently spread worldwide following breedermigration routes. Background: During the last decades, there has been an acceleration of the loss of domestic animal biodiversity. Forconservation purposes, the genetic diversity of the H'Mong cattle, an indigenous local breed was studied. Singlenucleotidepolymorphisms (SNP) of the SRY gene and mtDNA D-Loop sequence were analysed to clarify the origin ofthe breed. The genetic diversity was assessed through genetic data with twenty-five FAO microsatellites, andmorphometric data with five body measurements from 408 animals sampled from eight districts of the Ha Giangprovince.Results: The SRY genes were all of the zebu type. The introduction of livestock species in Europe has been followed by variousgenetic events, which created a complex spatial pattern of genetic differentiation. Spatialprincipal component (sPCA) analysis and spatial metric multidimensional scaling (sMDS)incorporate geography in multivariate analysis. This method was applied to threemicrosatellite data sets for 45 goat breeds, 46 sheep breeds, and 101 cattle breeds fromEurope, Southwest Asia, and India. The first two sPCA coordinates for goat and cattle, andthe first sPCA coordinate of sheep, correspond to the coordinates of ordinary PCAanalysis.
