Forage production seasonality is one of the serious obstacles in the Brazilian livestock, which causes fluctuations in the animal production. The cultivation of forage for cutting, grass stocking piles and silage are alternatives to reduce the food shortage problem in the scarcity period. Among the plant species, elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Shum.) stands out due to its high yield forage and good acceptance by the animals. In this context, we aimed to evaluate the chemical composition of silage from elephant grass with soy molasses and enzyme-microbial inoculant addition.

In the central-west region of Brazil, the seasonal distribution of rainfall generates an imbalance in the production of fodder. Moreover, during the dry period, the nutritive value of the fodder decays, due to the advance in the maturation of the plants. To alleviate this problem, several alternatives have been pointed out and used to supply food deficits in herds where basal feeding is like fodder plants, and the most usual is a conservation of fodder for the manufacture of silage. The use of sugarcane silage is a feasible option for shortage of forage in pastures, increasing the losses during the fermentation process. However, the use of additives is required due to the high level of soluble carbohydrates, as well as the large number of yeasts that promote alcoholic fermentation with high CO2 production, increasing losses during the fermentation process. This experiment aimed to evaluate the effects of calcium oxide and crude glycerin on the chemical composition of sugarcane silage.

In contrast, production in the rainy season is excessive and the management of the areas should be cautious. Sorghum bicolor is a type of tall sorghum, higher than two meters, mainly characterized by having sweet and juicy stalk. For silage production, it has an easy cultivation, high yield, lower moisture demand and particularly good quality fermentation of the produced silage, achieved through adequate concentration of soluble carbohydrates, which are essential for lactic fermentation, without additives to stimulate fermentation, and nutritional value similar to corn silage (Gonçalves and Borges, 1997). Inside this context, we aimed to evaluate the fermentative profi le and losses in Sorghum bicolor silages from different cultivars and two different periods of cultivation.

Brazil stands out in the world livestock scenario as a power rating in the production of meat and milk, with solid bases in the exploitation of cattle the grass. EN-US: The objective with this study was to evaluate the effect of different levels of water inclusion on the chemical composition and fermentation profiles of reconstituted corn grain silage. The experiment was carried out in a factorial arrangement in a completely randomized design, with three replicates per treatment. Five treatments were evaluated with different levels of water inclusion (% of the natural matter): dry corn grain (control); 90% dry corn grain (DCG) and 10% water; 80% DCG and 20% water; 70% DGC and 30% water; and 60% DCG and 40% water, totaling 45 experimental silos.
