Avaliação de clones de Eucalyptus em diferentes locais visando à produção de carvão vegetal PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira

Os objetivos desse trabalho foram avaliar a qualidade da madeira e do carvão vegetal de três clones de Eucalyptus plantados em diferentes locais e verificar a relação funcional existente entre a densidade básica e a profundidade de penetração do pino do Pilodyn. Foram avaliados três clones de Eucalyptus e amostradas quatro árvores por clone em cada local. Determinou-se a profundidade de penetração de um pino de aço do Pilodyn a 1,30 m de altura do solo (DAP), a densidade básica média (DBm), a densidade básica no DAP, o poder calorífico superior e os teores de lignina, extrativos totais, cinzas, holocelulose e a análise química elementar (C, H, N e O). Caracterização energética de pellets in natura e torrificados produzidos com madeira residual de Pinus PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar pellets torrificados e in natura,produzidos a partir da madeira residual de Pinus, destinados ao uso bioenergético. A compactação da madeira residual de Pinus sp. oriunda de serraria foi realizada em uma peletizadora com matriz plana de 8 mm. As torrefações foram realizadas em forno elétrico, tipo mufla, estabilizado em temperaturas finais de 220 °C e 250 °C por 30 min. Foram determinadas as seguintes propriedades nos pellets: densidades aparente e energética unitárias, densidades a granel e energética do granel, composição química imediata (materiais voláteis, cinzas e carbono fixo), poder calorífico superior e umidade. Chemical and energetic characterization for utilization of thinning and slab wood from Australian red cedar PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira

This work aimed to quantify and compare chemical and energetic properties of Australian red cedar Toona ciliata MJ Roem var. australis (FV Muell.) C. DC wood from thinning and primary sawing for reconstituted panel and energy production; and also to verify the efficiency of extractive removal by water treatments, in order to improve wood quality for particleboard production. Compaction of plant biomass for solid biofuels production PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira

This research aimed to evaluate briquettes made from coffee husk, eucalyptus sawdust and maize harvesting residues, and the influence of post compaction interval on some properties of the briquettes. After oven drying of the biomass, the briquettes were produced in a laboratory briquetting machine at 120 ºC and 15 MPa. Bulk density and heating value of the fresh biomass were analyzed. After compaction, influence of time on moisture content, volumetric expansion an bulk density of the briquettes was analyzed. Evaluation of the quality of Qualea parviflora charcoal PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira

This work aimed to verify the influence of the sampling longitudinal position in Qualea parviflora Mart. in the quality of charcoal and the statistical relation among the variables measured in this biofuel. Five trees were evaluated. In each one, 5 cm – thickness discs were obtained in the base, DBH (1.30 m), middle and top. The wood was carbonized in a muffle furnace, considering a heating rate of 1.67 ºC min-1. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o potencial energético e siderúrgico do carvão vegetal de clones de Eucalyptus grandis e Eucalyptus urophylla aos 42 meses de idade. Foram utilizadas madeiras de sete clones. As carbonizações foram realizadas em um forno elétrico (mufla) com temperatura final de 450 °C. Production and evaluation of lignocellulosic residue briquettes PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira

This study aimed to produce and evaluating the briquettes made from residues of plant biomass and test different times and temperatures. The material utilized was composed of wood processing residues (wood shaving and sawdust), coffee bean parchment and coffee tree stem, beam stem and pod, soybean stem and pod, rice husk, corn leaf, stem, straw and cob and sugar cane straw and bagasse. Quality and yield of the charcoal from an Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus urophylla hybrid clone PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira

This research aimed to analyze the quality and yields of the charcoal of a Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus urophylla hybrid clone commercially named GG100 for use in iron industry at different ages, plantation sites and spacing. The wood was carbonized in a laboratorial electric furnace (muffle furnace) at a heating rate of 1.67 ºC min-1 until the final temperature of 450 ºC, remaining stabilized for 30 min. This study aimed to evaluate the quality Cenostigma macrophyllum Tul wood for energetic use and to determine the yields and charcoal properties produced at different carbonization temperatures. Discs with 3 cm of thickness were obtained from stem basal positions, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of commercial height. The discs were split in two parts. One was used to determine wood properties and the other was carbonized at final temperatures of 400 ºC, 500 ºC and 600 ºC for bio-reducer evaluation . Basic density (1.2 g cm-3), lignin content (34%), higher calorific value (4,845 cal g-1) and gravimetric yield in charcoal (GYC) at 400 ºC (41.5%) were the highlights. The objective of this study was to evaluate the wood and charcoal quality of young Eucalyptus spp. trees, and to verify the influence of age and clone on the energy performance of these fuels. It was sampled the clones 1277 and 0321 of Eucalyptus spp. in two ages (46 and 58 months). This work aimed to evaluate the effect of planting sites on the elemental chemical composition of Eucalyptus urophylla wood and the quality of its charcoal and to verify the statistical relations among the properties measured in wood and charcoal. It was used twelve 7-years old trees from E. urophylla clone from Curvelo, Itacambira and Turmalina counties located in Minas Gerais State, Brazil.
