Cabbage seed production in the subtropics Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]Low temperatures are essential for cabbage flower induction. Most cabbage varieties cannot bloom and produce seeds in the tropics because of insufficiently low temperatures. Some shallow bolting types may flower completely in the highlands but fail to produce seed during the subsequent rainy season. According to the phasic development of cruciferous crops, plants were instead planted in the highlands for first phase (Thermo-phase) development, and then transplanted to the lowlands for second phase development. The materials used were tropical Yehscu cabbage which requires only shallow low temperatures, and the northern K-Y cross Chu -Chiou cabbage which requires a deeper degree of low temperatures. 球莖甘藍低溫處理對開花影響之研究 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]1. 本試殮為研究春化處理對北平球莖甘藍開花所需之低溫條件,及花之發育與植株體內成分之代謝情形。藉以瞭解其花芽發育之生理。 2. 北平球莖甘藍本葉13 葉(莖粗6 mm)以上,才能對春化處理有感應。將達到感應之幼苗,行30天以上,8 ℃之低溫處理才能誘導達到開花之效果。 3. 結球成株之球莖甘藍,在8℃暗處低溫處理6 週以上,也可達到開花效果。 4. 成球低溫處理與花芽分化及植株體內成分之代謝情形如下:(1)在低溫處理的第一週期問,糖類含量增加,氮素含量減少,C / N 率提高。(2)經一週之低溫處理後,即可引起花芽分化。於花芽分化時,糖類含量急劇增加,達一高峰,C / N 率亦同。隨著低溫處理之加長,花芽分化更為發育,但糖類含量則逐漸降低,同時植物體吸收氮素,使C / N 率降低。(3)低溫處理期問長者花蕾之發育迅速,而且形成完全花。隨側芽及萼片之發育後,糖類含量愈為降低。達開花期者,糖類含量繼續下降,C / N 率更降低。不能達開花期者,則糖類及C / N 率維持穩定。(4)因此,可歸結為自低溫處理到花芽分化期糖類含量增加而氮素含量減少,形成高C / N 率。於花芽分化後到抽苔期,則糖類減少或氮素含量增加,C / N 率降低。 5. 亞熱帶地區的臺彎,將北平球莖甘藍在2,000m 之高冷地行充足春化處理後,移至溫暖乾燥之平地可達開花採種之目的。 1. 葉萵苣浮根式水耕之養分吸收 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]葉萵苣行浮根式水耕,以不同濃度之Hoagland培養液測定結果,該培養液二分之一濃度生產量最高。經培養液和植體之分析計算其大致培養液吸收濃度N03-N、P、K.Ca、Mg分別為7、1.5、4.5、2.5、1me/l。浮根式水耕其主要氧來源為水表面供給為主,用馬達以循環法入方法,雖可略增加其溶氧量,但對葉萵苣之產量影響不顯著。 By using root-floating hydroponics, different concentrations of Hoagland solution were tested for nutrient absorption of leafy lettuce. Highest yield was obtained 1/2 concentration of standard solution. Results from the analysis of nutrient solution and plant suggested the optimum nutrient absorption for leafy lettuce being N03-N=7, P= 1.5, K=4.5, Ca=2.5, Mg=l me/l. Needed oxygen mainly came from the surface of water in root-floating hydroponics. Water circulating did not increase the lettuce yield.
