Aplicación del análisis de rango reescalado R/S para la predicción de genes en el genoma vegetal Acta Agron. (Palmira)

La predicción de genes es en la actualidad uno de los principales desafíos de la genómica. La predicción permite realizar experimentos con alta probabilidad de encontrar genes de interés y comparar regiones de ADN de importancia agronómica entre genomas; además, ayuda a restringir los espacios de búsqueda en las bases de datos. Un procedimiento estadístico con base en el análisis R/S y el coeficiente de Hurst fue desarrollado para caracterizar y predecir genes y los componentes estructurales de estos (exones e intrones) en los genomas eucariotas completos de Arabidopsis thaliana, Oriza sativa y Mus musculus. One of the fungal pathogens that causes more agriculture damage is Botrytis cinerea. Botrytis is a constant threat to crops because the fungus infects a wide range of host species, both native and cultivated. Furthermore, Botrytis persists on plant debris in and on the soil. Some of the most serious diseases caused by Botrytis include gray mold on vegetables and fruits, such as grapes and strawberries. Botrytis also causes secondary soft rot of fruits and vegetables during storage, transit and at the market. Background: Cryopreservation refers to the storage of a living organism at ultra-low-temperature for long-term preservation of plant germplasm. The effect of cryopreservation on the efficiency of exogenous gene genetic transformation and expression level were studied herein. In this work, transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana were successfully conserved in vitro by cryopreservation methods. Results: The effects of osmotic stress due to cryoprotectants during pretreatment and of storage at -196ºC on the stability, the efficiency of genetic transformation and the expression level of exogenous gene were analyzed in Arabidopsis. La masiva cantidad de datos biológicos provenientes de las disciplinas "ómicas" y su aprovechamiento en el mejoramiento genético vegetal requiere de nuevos abordajes teóricos y estadísticos que describan de forma satisfactoria principios generales en los genomas. El total de secuencias de los genes de los genomas vegetales de Arabidopsis thaliana y Oriza sativa y del genoma animal Mus musculus fueron extraídas y depuradas de la base de datos pública del Genebank mediante el diseño de algoritmos en lenguaje de programación Python. Plants have evolved annual and perennial life forms as alternative strategies to adapt reproduction and survival to environmental constraints. In isolated situations, such as islands, woody perennials have evolved repeatedly from annual ancestors1. Phylogenetic analysis of the WRKY transcription factors gene superfamily in coffee plants. Repositório Alice

WRKY family proteins are transcription factors involved in the regulation of development and plant defense response pathways. The Arabidopsis thaliana WRKY superfamily is made of 75 members. Common to these proteins is a DNA-binding region of approximately 60 amino acids in length which comprises the absolutely conserved sequence motif WRKY adjacent to a novel zinc-finger motif. A comparative phylogenetic analysis of the WRKY gene family in coffee and A. thaliana was conducted to assess the diversity of this family in coffee and to identify homologous coffee genes with putative function in defense responses to pathogens. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of the transgenic soybean BR-16-AHAS genetic constitution on the tolerance to the herbicide imazapyr. BR-16-AHAS was crossed with ten other genotypes. The experimental design was a complete randomized block, in a 2x12x3 factorial arrangement, with two sowing periods (winter and summer), twelve crossing groups and three plant positions (upper, mid and lower), with three replicates. The plants were treated with 100 g ha-1 a.i. of imazapyr at the V3/V4 stage. The soc1 ful double mutant of A. thaliana produced substantial secondary growth throughout all aboveground stems, whereas in the Col accession only a few cell layers of wood were produced at the base of old stems. This increased wood formation may be linked to inactivation of the flowering time genes SOC1 and FUL (Melzer et al., 2008). The Ca2+ pump inhibitor, thapsigargin, inhibits root gravitropism in Arabidopsis thaliana Biol. Res.

Thapsigargin, a specific inhibitor of most animal intracellular SERCA-type Ca2+ pumps present in the sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum, was originally isolated from the roots of the Mediterranean plant Thapsia gargancia L. Here, we demonstrate that this root-derived compound is capable of altering root gravitropism in Arabidopsis thaliana. Thapsigargin concentrations as low as 0.1 µM alter root gravitropism whereas under similar conditions cyclopiazonic acid does not. Furthermore, a fluorescently conjugated thapsigargin (BODIPY FL thapsigargin) suggests that target sites for thapsigargin are located in intracellular organelles in the root distal elongation zone and the root cap, regions known to regulate root gravitropism

In Arabidopsis thaliana, FT and TFL1 are known to affect phase transition from vegetative phase to reproductive phase. It is also known that these genes also affect some growth habits such as flowering time and compactness. Especially, TFL1 and its functional orthologs, CEN in snapdragon and SP in tomato, were demonstrated to regulate growth habit of indeterminate type or determinate type.
