Antifungal activity of bacterial strains from the rhizosphere of Stachytarpheta crassifolia. Repositório Alice
SANTOS, S. N.; OLIVEIRA, L. K. X.; MELO, I. S. de; VELOSO, E. da S.; ROQUE, M. R. de A..
This study evaluated the antifungal action of biomolecules produced from the secondary metabolism of bacterial strains found in the rhizosphere of semi arid plants against human pathogenic Candida albicans. Crude extracts were obtained using ethyl acetate as an organic solvent and the bioactivity was assessed with a bioautography technique. The results showed that bacterial strains, Alcaligenes faecalis MRbS12 and Bacillus cereus MRbS26, had compounds with antifungal bioactivity. The largest inhibition zones for both compounds were located on spots with Rf values below 0.500, indicating that the molecules possibly had polar characteristics. These results suggested that microorganisms found in the environment could have bioprospecting potential.

Biomolecule profiles in inedible wild mushrooms with antioxidant value IPB - Escola Superior Agrária
Reis, Filipa S.; Pereira, Eliana; Barros, Lillian; Sousa, Maria João; Martins, Anabela; Ferreira, Isabel C.F.R..
The use of natural products isolated from mushrooms, included inedible species, against infection, cancer diseases and other oxidative-stress related diseases is one of the cornerstones of modern medicine. In the present work, the antioxidant molecule profiles of inedible mushroom species were evaluated and compared with those of edible species. The order of antioxidant abundance found in inedible wild mushrooms was: phenolics > flavonoids > ascorbic acid > tocopherols > carotenoids, similar to that of edible species. Furthermore the same energetic biomolecules were found including the disaccharide trehalose, the monosaccharide alcohol derivative mannitol and the fatty acids palmitic, oleic and linoleic acids. Fomitopsis pinicola revealed a...

Efecto de la fertilización en la producción de lavanda (Lavandula x intermedia Emeric ex. Loisel. Var Grosso) y actividad biológica de su aceite esencial. Colegio de Postgraduados
Guerrero Lagunes, Luz Adela.

Sperm Morphology and Natural Biomolecules from Marine Snail Telescopium telescopium: a Phylogenetic Perspective International Journal of Morphology
Datta,Uttam; Hembram,Manik Lal; Roy,Subhasis; Mukherjee,Prasenjit.
Biochemical analysis of the cytosol fraction isolated from the ovotestis/spermatheca glands of marine mollusc Telescopium telescopium and it's sperm microtubular structure revealed that relatively similar biomolecules like different enzymes, hormones, minerals and structures of the sperm are also exist in humans. Moreover, antiserum of the cytosol fraction was found to cross-react with the human sperm antigen indicated presence of a common sperm surface antigenicity between these two diversified species. These findings might support and / or hypothesize about the origin and diversification of the vertebrate molecules from its ancestral form (s) from the invertebrates, and basic physiological functions of these ancestral biomolecules including some of the...
