Abscisic acid (ABA) plays a series of significant physiology roles in higher plants including but not limited to promote bud and seed dormancy, accelerate foliage fall, induce stomatal closure, inhibit growth and enhance resistance. Recently, it has been revealed that ABA also has an important regulator role in the growth, development and ripening of fruit. In higher plants ABA is produced from an indirect pathway from the cleavage products of carotenoids. Abstract Phytochemical content of plant extracts can be used effectively to reduce the metal ions to nanoparticles in one-step green synthesis process. In this study, six plant extracts were used for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Biologically synthesized AgNPs was characterized using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The individual and combined effects of AgNPs and tetracycline against S. aureus and K. pneumoniae were assessed. Comparative genomics reveals a widespread distribution of an exopolysaccharide biosynthesis gene cluster among Vibrionaceae ArchiMer

Objectives The eps locus in Vibrio diabolicus is involved in the production of the biotechnologically valuable HE800 EPS. In this study, the distribution and diversity of similar eps gene clusters across Vibrionaceae and its variability in relation to phylogenetic relationship were investigated. The aim was to provide a better knowledge of the eps gene cluster importance and to facilitate discovery of new EPS with potent interesting bioactivities. Results Seventy percent of the 103 genome sequences examined display such an eps locus with a high level of synteny. As a precursor, pimelic acid plays an important role in biotin biosynthesis pathway of Bacillus subtilis. Fermentations supplemented with pimelic acid could improve the production of biotin, however, with a disadvantage-high cost. So it is necessary to improve the biosynthesis of pimelic acid via genetic engineering in B. subtilis. Brine and cold seeps and hydrocarbon seepages have been found off Florida, off the Oregon and Japanese subduction systems, on the Laurentian Fan, near Barbados, and off Louisiana. Biomasses range from 10 to 70 kg/m super(2), fresh weight. Effect of branched-chain amino acids, valine, isoleucine and leucine on the biosythesis of bitespiramycin 4"-O-acylspiramycins BJM

Bitespiramycin, a group of 4"-O-acylated spiramycins with 4"-O-isovalerylspiramycins as the major components, was produced by recombinantspiramycin-producing strain Streptomyces spiramyceticus harboring a 4"-O-acyltransferase gene. The experiment was initially performed in synthetic medium with 0.5 g l-1 Valine, Isoleucine or Leucine feeding at 36 h cultivation. When valine was fed, the biological titer of bitespiramycin was 45.3% higher than that of the control group, but the relative content of total isovalerylspiramycin components decreased by 22.5%. Expression of phenazine biosynthetic genes during the arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis of Glomus intraradices BJM

To explore the molecular mechanisms that prevail during the establishment of the arbuscular mycorrhiza symbiosis involving the genus Glomus, we transcriptionally analysed spores of Glomus intraradices BE3 during early hyphal growth. Among 458 transcripts initially identified as being expressed at presymbiotic stages, 20% of sequences had homology to previously characterized eukaryotic genes, 30% were homologous to fungal coding sequences, and 9% showed homology to previously characterized bacterial genes. Genome sequence of Vibrio diabolicus and identification of the exopolysaccharide HE800 biosynthesis locus ArchiMer

Vibrio diabolicus, a marine bacterium originating from deep-sea hydrothermal vents, produces the HE800 exopolysaccharide with high value for biotechnological purposes, especially for human health. Its genome was sequenced and analyzed; phylogenetic analysis using the core genome revealed V. diabolicus is close to another deep-sea Vibrio sp. (Ex25) within the Harveyi clade and Alginolyticus group. A genetic locus homologous to the syp cluster from Vibrio fischeri was demonstrated to be involved in the HE800 production. Juvenile hormone (JH) contributes to the regulation of larval molting and metamorphosis in insects. Herein, we comprehensively identified 55 genes involved in JH biosynthesis, metabolism and signaling in the silkworm (Bombyx mori) as well as 35 in Drosophila melanogaster, 35 in Anopheles gambiae, 36 in Apis mellifera, 47 in Tribolium castaneum, and 44 in Danaus plexippus. Resumo: O fosfato de oseltamivir, ingrediente ativo do antiviral Tamiflu®, é um potente inibidor viral produzido a partir do ácido chiquímico e extraído da semente de Ilicium verum, sua mais importante fonte natural. Tendo como sítio de ação a enzima 5 enolpiruvilchiquimato-3-fosfato sintase (EPSPs), o glyphosate é o único composto capaz de inibir a sua atividade, com o consequente acúmulo do ácido chiquímico nas plantas. Plantas de milho e soja foram pulverizadas com subdoses de glyphosate (0,0 a 230,4 g e.a. ha-1), determinando-se o teor de ácido chiquímico na massa seca dessas plantas por HPLC aos 3,7 e 10 dias após aplicação. In the liver of rainbow trout (Salmo gairdnerii ), vitellogenin (Vg) synthesis is influenced by oestradiol (E sub(2)) which is believed to act through the classical mechanism of steroid hormone action. After binding of the hormone to a soluble specific receptor protein, the oestradiol-receptor complex is translocated to the nucleus, where it interacts with DNA and modulates expression of Vg genes, leading to increased synthesis of specific mRNA and Vg. Metabolic pathway of oligosaccharides in sorghum honeydew caused by Claviceps africana Ciência Rural

The occurrence of the alditol oligosaccharides in the Claviceps afriana honeydew is partly as a rational expression of the pathogen's selective nutritive metabolism of the sucrose supplied by the host plant. The experiments were carried out in laboratory and when 14C-D-sucrose, 14C-D-fructose or 14C-D-mannitol radiolabelled saccharides were incorporated into: a) sorghum plant infected by C. africana, b) whole and macereted micelia tissue and c) cell-free honeydew of C. africana, it was observed that the glucose moiety of sucrose was not involved in oligosaccharides formation.
