Camus, Patrick; Compere, Chantal; Blanchet, Aline; Dimeet, Joel; Hamon, Dominique; Lacotte, Nicolas; Peleau, Michel; Lassalle, Elisabeth.
This study [...] was carried out from June 1998 to January 2000 and enabled the assessment of the scientific knowledge on the biology, ecology and distribution of the Annelida Polychaeta sedentaria: Ficopomatus enigmaticus. [...] In order to better determine the characteristics of this species' environment and development cycle, a study was conducted in the worksite of the marina of Vannes. This study, mostly biological, was completed by a technological study on the fighting techniques (antifouling paints) used against the damage made by this worm on the boat hulls. In addition, this document presents some recommendations to follow in order to limit, or stop, the development of this "pollution".

First insights into macro-and meiofaunal colonisation patterns on paired wood/slate substrata at Atlantic deep-sea hydrothermal vents ArchiMer
Cuvelier, Daphne; Beesau, Julie; Ivanenko, Viatcheslav; Zeppilli, Daniela; Sarradin, Pierre-marie; Sarrazin, Jozee.
In 2006, paired wood and slate panels, each equipped with a temperature probe, were deployed on three different localities on and around the Eiffel Tower edifice (Lucky Strike vent field, Mid-Atlantic Ridge) within close proximity of visible hydrothermal activity. Recovery of these panels took place in 2008. For this two-year deployment period, the composition of colonising organisms (both macro-and meiofauna) was assessed, along with image analyses of the deployment sites in 2006 and 2008. Very few significant differences in colonisation between organic (wood) and inorganic (slate) panels were revealed. Rather, the locality of deployment and the local environmental conditions and hydrothermal activity were found to influence taxonomic composition....

Pien, Sebastien; Maheux, Franck; Gauquelin, Thibaut; Le Gendre, Romain.

Odour masking of tomato volatiles by coriander volatiles in host plant selection of Bemisia tabaci biotype B. Repositório Alice
TOGNI, P. H. B.; LAUMANN, R. A.; MEDEIROS, M. A.; SUJII, E. R..
The silverleaf whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), is one of the most important pest insects in tomato crop systems worldwide. It has been previously demonstrated that intercropping tomato [Solanum lycopersicum L. Mill. (Solanaceae)] with coriander [Coriandrum sativum L. (Apiaceae)] reduces the incidence and severity of damage caused by B. tabaci. However, it is not yet known how coriander affects the insect?s behaviour. We evaluated the attractiveness of tomato constitutive volatiles to B. tabaci and what effect coriander constitutive volatiles have on the insect?s behaviour. To this end, we conducted three bioassays in a multiple-choice four-arm olfactometer (?×? type), measuring B. tabaci behaviour when offered tomato and...

OVIPOSITION BEHAVIOUR IN FOUR SPECIES OF DROSOPHILA Gayana
Alamiri,Zaid.
Oviposition site selection plays a central role in the evolutionary ecology of Drosophila, due to its high relation with the pre-adults fitness since the site selection determines the interactions between the species sharing common resources. Drosophila subobscura Collin which was detected in Chile for the first time in 1978, was found coexisting in the wild, as adults, over apple and raspberry, with D. hydei, D. immigrans and D. melanogaster. It was observed that raspberry has been used only by Drosophila subobscura as a breeding site; meanwhile sharing apple with the others. Our principal purpose was to shed light on the ecological significance of the new species oviposition behaviour; analysing also some of the preference-performance relationship. Two...
