A Statistical Study of the Association of Seven Dental Anomalies in the Brazilian Population International Journal of Morphology
Miziara,R. C; Mendes-Junior,C. T; Wiezel,C. E. V; Simões,A. L; Scuoteguazza,J. A. C; Azoubel,R.
The objective of this study was to show the association patterns among seven types of dental anomalies (second pre-molar agenesis, upper side incisive reduced in size, lower first molar infra-ochlesis, enamel hypoplasia, first molar ectopic eruption, supra numerous teeth and upper canine ectopic eruption) in a population sample without dental treatment ranging in age from 7 to 14. A total of 172 patients were attended and underwent the clinical examination at the Clínica Infantil da Fundação Educacional de Barretas. Eleven patients from this total were selected according to a first dental anomaly diagnosis and submitted to panoramic radiography. A significant association (p<0.05) was detected among six pairs of anomalies (second pre-molar agenesis x...

Dental anomalies in Dromiciops gliroides (Microbiotheria, Microbiotheriidae), Caenolestes fuliginosus and Rhyncholestes raphanurus (Paucituberculata, Caenolestidae) RChHN
MARTIN,GABRIEL M.
Dental anomalies are described after analyzing series of skulls and mandibles of three species of South American marsupials: the monito del monte {Dromiciops gliroides), the silky shrew-opossum {Caenolestes fuliginosus) and the Chilean shrew-opossum {Rhyncholestes raphanurus). The anomalies are classified into three categories: (1) supernumerary or missing teeth in normal positions of the dental series, (2) morphological anomalies like teeth fusion or anomalous crown shape, and (3) presence of teeth in unusual positions. Cusp fusion and supernumerary teeth at the end of the toothrow have been observed predominantly in D. gliroides. A tendency to find supernumerary or missing teeth is observed between the procumbent incisors and the second lower premolars...

Rare Case of Bilateral Gemination in Deciduous Teeth International Journal of Morphology
Barbério,Gabriel Salles; da Costa,Soraia Veloso; Rios,Daniela; de Oliveira,Thais Marchini; Machado,Maria Aparecida de Andrade Moreira.
Gemination in bilateral mandibular primary teeth is a rare anomaly. This kind of anomaly features two crowns totally or partially separated, but only one root and one root canal. At intraoral clinical examination of children we found different anatomy of mandibular primary canines with two partially separated crowns. The radiographic exams showed geminated teeth. After 3-years of follow-up, the cone beam computed tomography showed the absence of the mandibular permanent lateral incisors and the aspect of normality of the permanent canines germs. Although the gemination in primary teeth itself is considered as a harmless anomaly, its presence could indicate the occurrence of some dental anomaly in the permanent dentition. To the best of our knowledge, this...
