A method for the estimation of potential evapotranspiration and/or open pan evaporation over Brazil. Repositório Alice
REDDY, S. J.; AMORIM NETO, M. da S..
This paper presents a simple regression model to estimate potential evapotranspiration and/or open pan evaporation data for a wide network of stations in Brazil. The model uses the readily available data sets like geocoordinates (latitude) and precipitation as inputs. Potential evapotranspiration presents a high correlation with the precipitation during summer months and with latitude during winter months. It also shows association with longitude and elevation; the magnitude of variation appears to be very small. This model gave a R2 varying from 0.460 to 0.902 for different months. The model is also extended to weekly periods of individual years ant tested with the open pan evaporation data of Bebedouro and Mandacaru. The agreement between observed and...

Agroclimatological information about the experimental field of the SHIFT-area, ENV 23, 42, 45, 54. Repositório Alice
CORREIA, F. W. S.; LIEBEREI, R..
Throughout the entire experimental phase of the SHIFT-colaboration of Embrapa Amazonia Ocidental (Manaus-AM) and the University of Hamburg, agrometeorological data have been monitored by a Stationary Climatological Station situated directly at the experimental site (3° 8' S, 59° 52' W). These data have been compared with the ten-year means of the Embrapa Agrometeorological Station (Manaus-AM), in a latitude of 03° 08' 05" S, 60° 01' W in an altitude of 44m above sea level. The climate of the experimental field is classified as AF according to Koppen. The years 1996 and 1997 reveal climati characteristics of "El Nino" years and, thus, they allow to develop an excellent idea about short time local changes of climatic factors compared to a ten-year means.

Effect of Soil Coverage on Dual Crop Coefficient of Maize in a Region of Mato Grosso, Brazil. Repositório Alice
ANDREA, M. C. da S.; VIEIRA, F. F.; DALLACORT, R.; BARBIERI, J. D.; FREITAS, P. S. L. de; TIEPPO, R. C.; ZOLIN, C. A.; KRAUSE, W.; DANIEL, D. F..
With the objective of determining maize?s specific water requirements in different soil cover conditions in a Cerrado region of Mato Grosso, Brazil, this study used the dual?s crop coefficient (Kc dual) approach, according to FAO methods. An experiment was carried out in 2016, with three treatments: without vegetation soil cover; soil cover of 4 t ha-1 and soil cover of 8 t ha-1 dry matter of brachiaria grass. The used methodology accounts for crop?s transpiration component (through its basal coefficient, Kcb) and soil evaporation component (through its coefficient, Ke), which were determined for initial, intermediate and final phases of crop development. Experiments were carried in lysimeters to determine crop?s evapotranspiration, and in microlysimeters...

A melhor relacao...

Extending the integrated Richards Equation method to new boundary conditions: model description and validation Agrociencia
Yang,Dejun; Zhang,Tuqiao; Zhang,Kefeng; Lei,Shaogang.
There is a need for developing an accurate and simple method, which can be widely used in agro-hydrological models. The Integrated Richards Equation method is a good and simple method to simulate cyclic movement of water in the soil-atmosphere system. However, this method still has some unsolved problems and it is needed for further development if used in agro-hydrological simulation. In this study, the Integrated Richards Equation method was further developed for the agro-hydrological simulation by introducing the commonly used soil hydraulic functions, top and lower boundary conditions. Infiltration numerical experiments and a lab evaporation experiment were used for the validation of the model's capabilities of modelling infiltration and evaporation,...

Water supply of Swietenia macrophylla King and Carapa guianensis Aubl. in three plantation systems. Repositório Alice
DUNISCH, O.; SCHROTH, G.; MORAIS, R.M.; EMBREICH, M..
The following investigations were initiated by the increasing demand for the development of sustainable landuse systems in the Central Amazon, including high quality timber production. Mixed plantations are able to reduce the strong exploitation of hig quality timber trees in primary forests in this region. In order to develop sustainable plantation systems, knowledge on the site demands of the tree species is necessary. Especially the seasonal variation of the water supply of the Central Amazon influences tree growth and wood formation in plantation systems. Therefore, the water supply of the importante commercial timber trees Swietenia macrophylla King and Carapa guianensis Aubl. (Meliaceae) was studied in three different plantation systems (monoculture...

Water-resource and land-use issues AgEcon
Calder, Ian R..
This paper reviews perceived notions of the relationships between catchment land use and hydrology and explores whether much of the widely disseminated folklore, so often inextricably linked with issues of land use, is based on myth or reality. Gaps in our knowledge of the underlying processes in relation to land use and hydrology are identified. Our ability to apply this knowledge at different scales ranging from the plot to the catchment and regional scales are discussed and specific examples are drawn from Indian and African case studies. Methods for linking spatially distributed land-use hydrological models with economics and ecology through decision support systems are outlined and proposed as a framework for the integrated management of land and...

West African Monsoon And Satellite Observations Of Water Vapor OceanDocs
Gaye, A.; Citeau, J..
The atmospheric water vapor, a main climatic parameter, remains also one of the less well known in the inter tropical area. Different space programs have been carried out to improve its measure: the data provided by these experimental or operational programs, give an alternate and complementary information the model’s analysis. Moreover, the time series available today, are long enough to allow studies of variability of different climatic parameters. The following contribution, dedicated to the climate of the Western Africa, analyses the atmospheric humidity as retrieved by NOAA8/TOVS12 dated over the last 20 years. The climatology of the upper tropospheric humidity (UTH13), retrieved from HIRS-121, evidences the importance of the position and the...
