A fuzzy system for cloacal temperature prediction of broiler chickens Ciência Rural

Cloacal temperature (CT) of broiler chickens is an important parameter to classify its comfort status; therefore its prediction can be used as decision support to turn on acclimatization systems. The aim of this research was to develop and validate a system using the fuzzy set theory for CT prediction of broiler chickens. The fuzzy system was developed based on three input variables: air temperature (T), relative humidity (RH) and air velocity (V). The output variable was the CT. The fuzzy inference system was performed via Mamdani's method which consisted in 48 rules. The defuzzification was done using center of gravity method. The fuzzy system was developed using MAPLE® 8. A geometrical approach for fuzzy DEA frontiers. Repositório Alice

Interval DEA frontiers are here used in situation where one input or output is subject to uncertainty in its measurement and is presented as an interval data. We built an efficient frontier without any assumption about the probability distribution function of the imprecise variable. We take into account only the minimum and the maximum values of each imprecise variable. Two frontiers are constructed: the optimistic and the pessimistic ones. We use fuzszy relationships to introduce a new efficiency index based on a set of some Fuzzy T Norms. We will explore only the case where only on single variable presents a certain degree of uncertainty.

An integrated framework for clinical problem solving in agriculture. Repositório Alice

The goal of this paper is to give an overview of a general problem-solving framework for diagnosis, investigation and treatment tasks, that incorporates concepts of abductive inference, fuzzy set logic and decision theory. In this work we focus on the use of this framework in agriculture, with an illustration in corn plantations. The general framework models time durations and intensity of manifestations as fuzzy sets, and, in the particular case of agriculture, it takes into account the favorable conditions for the development of a given disorder and the severity of its manifestations to recommend a treatment, together with other important factors such as risk and cost.

EVALUATING ALTERNATIVE FARMING SYSTEMS: A FUZZY MADM APPROACH AgEcon

This paper develops a decision support method that integrates measures of achievement in the economic, environmental, and social aspects of farming. The decision support method combines multiple attribute decision making (MADM) with fuzzy logic. The fuzzy MADM model fully ranks decision alternatives relative to the preferences of decision makers and overcomes several problems inherent in other MADM approaches. It is concluded that fuzzy MADM can improve decision making on the farm.

Qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) is an increasingly popular analytic strategy, with applications to numerous empirical fields. This article briefly discusses the substantive motivation and technical details of QCA, as well as fuzzy-set QCA, followed by an in-depth discussion of how the new program fuzzy performs these techniques in Stata. An empirical example is presented that demonstrates the full suite of tools contained within fuzzy, including creating configurations, performing a series of statistical tests of the configurations, and reducing the identified configurations.

Fuzzy expert system in the prediction of neonatal resuscitation BJMBR

In view of the importance of anticipating the occurrence of critical situations in medicine, we propose the use of a fuzzy expert system to predict the need for advanced neonatal resuscitation efforts in the delivery room. This system relates the maternal medical, obstetric and neonatal characteristics to the clinical conditions of the newborn, providing a risk measurement of need of advanced neonatal resuscitation measures. It is structured as a fuzzy composition developed on the basis of the subjective perception of danger of nine neonatologists facing 61 antenatal and intrapartum clinical situations which provide a degree of association with the risk of occurrence of perinatal asphyxia.
