O melhoramento genético do café visa o desenvolvimento de cultivares que atendam as novas exigências do mercado consumidor. Isto é alcançado com a introdução de novas características mediante hibridações dentro ou entre espécies, aumentando, assim, a variabilidade genética do material a ser trabalhado. A utilização de materiais genéticos com características agronômicas desejáveis, tais como resistência a pragas e doenças, tolerância a seca, solos pobres em nutrientes, a baixos/altos teores de compostos químicos e melhor qualidade de bebida, entre outras, é de fundamental importância para o sucesso do agronegócio café. Este fato ressalta a grande importância da preservação dos acessos nos bancos de germoplasma, a fim de evitar a perda desses genes valiosos.

Caracterização morfoagronômica de acessos da coleção de maracujá da Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura Infoteca-e

A caracterização de acessos é conduzida buscando identificar e documentar aspectos morfológicos de alta herdabilidade, bem como padrões moleculares e citogenéticos, a fim de gerar subsídios para a potencial utilização dos acessos em programa de melhoramento genético de maracujazeiro. O estudo teve como objetivo caracterizar 22 acessos de maracujá, provenientes da coleção de maracujá da Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura, com base em descritores quantitativos e qualitativos. Foram utilizados 35 descritores morfoagronômicos, 24 quantitativos (3 relacionados às folhas, 8 relacionados às flores, 11 relacionados aos frutos e 2 referentes à produtividade) e 11 qualitativos (3 relacionados às folhas, 6 relacionados às flores e 2 relacionados aos frutos)....

Diversity of Spanish landraces of Cucumis sativus and Cucurbita ssp National Institute of Agronomic Research

The Genebank of the COMAV at the UPV holds an important collection of cucurbits. It contains more than 1000 accessions belonging to the Cucurbita genus and about 180 accessions of Cucumis sativus. In this work a previously established core collection of 52 C. pepo landraces has been characterized with SSRs markers. Also the geographical variation and the utility of seed traits for classifying C. moschata accessions have been tested using a collection of 250 landraces. The variability of a collection of 63 accessions of C. sativus has been inspected using qualitative and quantitative traits. Karyotypic characterization of Capsicum sp. accessions Agronomy

This study aimed to determine the chromosome number and the karyotype of Capsicum annuum, Capsicum chinense, Capsicum frutencens and Capsicum baccatum accessions in the active Capsicum sp. genebank at the Federal University of Piauí (BGC-UFPI). These species have great economic importance throughout the world, and their cytogenetic characterization can inform taxonomy and lead to improvement in the genus. Karyotypes were obtained from the rootlet meristems of the studied accessions using the squash method and Giemsa staining. The chromosome number 2n=2x=24 was verified for each of the four species. Despite the importance of traditional varieties of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) as sources of variation in breeding programs and varieties targeted to high-price quality markets that value their exceptional organoleptic quality, little is known regarding the structure of these materials at the morphological level. In this study, a collection of 166 populations (137 of them during two years) of traditional varieties of tomato from the east coast of Spain has been characterized using 41 descriptors. การพัฒนาพันธุ์ข้าวเหนียวเขี้ยวงู: จากธนาคารเชื้อพันธุ์สู่นาเกษตรกร Thai Agricultural

ข้าวเหนียวที่ใช้ในการประกอบอาหารประเภทของหวานที่มีคุณภาพดีที่สุด คือข้าวเหนียวเขี้ยวงู ซึ่งในระบบการค้าปัจจุบัน โรงสีใช้ข้าวพันธุ์กข6 มาดัดแปลง โดยเพิ่มจำนวนครั้งของการขัดสีและขัดมัน ทำให้เมล็ดข้าวสารมีขนาดเล็ก เรียวยาว สวยงาม ส่งขายให้กับผู้ประกอบการทั้งหมด ซึ่งกระบวนการดังกล่าว ทำให้ได้ปริมาณข้าวเต็มเมล็ดและต้นข้าวลดลง แต่มีต้นทุนการผลิตสูงขึ้น จึงส่งผลให้ข้าวสารของข้าวเหนียวเขี้ยวงูมีราคาแพง การใช้แนวทางโดยการพัฒนาพันธุ์ที่เป็นพันธุ์พื้นเมืองดั้งเดิม โดยผ่านขั้นตอนของการปรับปรุงพันธุ์ เพื่อให้ได้พันธุ์ข้าวเหนียวเขี้ยวงู ที่มีคุณภาพดีและเป็นที่ยอมรับ จึงเป็นอีกวิธีการหนึ่งซึ่งจะทำให้เกษตรกร ผู้ประกอบการโรงสี ผู้ประกอบการค้า และผู้บริโภค มีทางเลือกที่เป็นประโยชน์เพิ่มมากขึ้น และตามที่กรมการข้าวได้มีการรวบรวมพันธุกรรมข้าวไว้ทั่วประเทศ ตั้งแต่ในอดีต...
