In vivo anti-tumour activity of ethyl heptyloxyacetate against Ehrlich ascites cells National Institute of Agronomic Research
Townsend, Gordon F.; Brown, William H.; Felauer, Ethel E..
PREVIOUS investigations have shown that whole royal jelly, a fraction from royal jelly (10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid) and certain closely related dicarboxylic acids, some of which are also found in royal jelly, will inhibit the development of transplantable AKR leukæmia and ascites tumours when added in vitro just prior to transfer. This activity was associated mainly with 9-and 10-carbon straight-chain monocarboxylic acids, particularly decanoic acid in the ethyl ester form. These compounds showed no activity in vivo.

Mother-to-child transmission of human T-cell lymphotropic virus types I and II (HTLV-I/II) in Gabon : a prospective follow-up of 4 years IRD
Nyambi, P.N.; Ville, Y.; Louwagie, J.; Bedjabaga, I.; Glowaczower, E.; Peeters, Martine; Kerouedan, D.; Dazza, M.C.; Larouzé, B.; Van der Groen, G.; Delaporte, Eric.
For 4 years, we determined the mode and risk of mother-to-child transmission of HTLV-I in a prospective cohort of 34 children born to seropositive mothers in Franceville, Gabon. We also determined the prevalence of antibodies to HTLV-I/II in siblings born to seropositive mothers. Antibodies to HTLV-I/II were detected by Western blot, and the proviral DNA was detected by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The risk of seroconversion to anti-HTLV-I for the 4 years of follow-yp was 17.5 %. Anti-HTLV-I/II and proviral DNA were only detected after age 18 months. We observed a seroprevalence rate of 15 % among the siblings born to HTLV-I/II seropositive mothers. Furthermore, we report a case of mother-to-child transmission of HTLV-II infection in a population...

Mycosis fongoïde chez une Gabonaise infectée par le HTLV-I IRD
Perret, J.L.; Moussavou-Kombila, J.B.; Delaporte, Eric; Coniquet, S.; Nguemby-Mbina, C.; Normand, P..

Stability of a Gleevec and immune model with delays Inra
Mazenc, F.; Kim, K.P.S.; Niculescu, N.S.I.
This paper focuses on the stability analysis of a delay-differential system encountered in modeling immune dynamics during Gleevec treatment for chronic myelogenous leukemia. A simple algorithm is proposed for the analysis of delay effects on the stability. Such an algorithm takes advantage of the particular structure of the dynamical interconnections of the model. The analysis shows that the model yields three fixed points, two of which are always unstable and one of which is sometimes stable. The stable fixed point corresponds to an equilibrium solution in which the leukemia population is kept below the cytogenetic remission level. This result implies that, during Gleevec treatment, the resulting anti-leukemia immune response can serve to control the...
