Acceptable microorganisms concentration in a semen sample for in vitro embryo production BJM

The aim of this study was to report that the acceptable concentration of microorganisms in a semen sample for insemination may not be safe for an in vitro fertilization procedure. It seems that the semen sample should be completely germ-free, because of the excellent microorganism proliferation condition promoted by the in vitro environment.

En diciembre del 2007, Innova-Chile de CORFO aprobó el financiamiento del proyecto “Antártica: Fuente de recursos biológicos para la biotecnología nacional”. Este proyecto tiene como fin crear una plataforma que facilite el acceso a los recursos antárticos de microorganismos y plantas, de una forma que permitirá su valorización para la biotecnología chilena y su desarrollo científico en el área. Por sus únicas condiciones de aislamiento y bajas temperaturas, la Antártica alberga un potencial científico y biotecnológico enorme, pero también muy altas barreras de entrada de diferente índole.

ABSTRACT: The plant, Amburana cearensis A. C. Smith (Fabaceae), commonly called cumaru, is widespread in the Caatinga cearense, a less known ecosystem in Brazil. The maturation of salted anchovies leads to a product of particular organoleptic properties. The manufacturers have to resolve many problems. A thorough investigation of the phenomenons which occur is necessary to resolve them. The maturation is conducted at different temperatures. The present paper reports the microbiological variations of the present microfloras, from hyper-halophilic to the non-halophilic, which escort organoleptical and biochemical ones chiefly at 20 degree C. If the maturation's temperature is maintained high (28 degree C) there is a strong proteolysis. At 20 degree C the organoleptical characters appear within 2 months.

ABSTRACT The endophytic bacteria belong to a larger group of microorganisms that have their life-cycle partly or entirely inside the plant and are located in intra and inter-cellular spaces or in the vascular tissue. These bacteria can be found colonizing aerial parts or roots. This review aims to analyze the colonization strategies of endophytic bacteria through interaction with plants, as well as to highlight the metabolic influence of these organisms in plant tissues, which result in physiological and biochemical changes. Biomass distribution and physiological capabilities of bacteria in the water column above a sea grass system. ArchiMer

The distribution pattern of bacteria in the water column above and within a Posidonia oceanica bed near Ischia (off the Gulf of Naples) was investigated and correlated with DOC and POM data for autumn and winter. Data from samples of 5 stations along a transect from shallow to deep showed rather low bacterial densities (10 super(4).ml super(-1)) for both seasons. The number of attached bacteria was higher in late winter as compared to autumn when the leaves are shed from the stands. Except for occasional peaks DOC ranged between 1.5 and 4.5 mg C/1 while POM concentrations ranged form 4 to 14 mg AFDW.1 super(-1). Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a frequência de mastite clínica e subclínica e descrever os micro-organismos envolvidos no processo inflamatório da glândula mamária nos rebanhos de búfalos leiteiros no Nordeste do Brasil. Foram analisadas 1.896 amostras de leite provenientes de 474 búfalos em quatro propriedades localizadas nos Estados de Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará e Pernambuco. Após o exame físico da glândula mamária, as amostras de leite de cada teto foram submetidas aos testes da caneca do fundo preto e CMT (California Mastitis Test). As amostras que apresentaram scores ++ e +++ no CMT e as positivas para a caneca do fundo preto foram submetidas ao exame microbiológico. En este trabajo se evaluó la germinación de semillas y el crecimiento de plantas de C. equisetifolia L. ante diesel, y su potencial de fitorremediación en combinación de bioaumentación y bioestimulación. La primera fase experimental evaluó el efecto tóxico de 15 dosis de diesel (0, 100, 250, 500, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 5000, 7500, 10000, 15000 y 20000 mg kg-1) en la germinación de semillas y la emergencia de plántulas. A los 10 días, la germinación fue mayor en concentraciones altas de diesel; la mayor geminación ocurrió en 20000 mg kg-1, y la menor se registró ante 5000 mg kg-1. The environmental effect and fate of several agricultural and industrial source toxicants were evaluated in controlled laboratory microcosm systems in the presence of the aminopolysaccharide polymer, chitin. Toxicants examined included methyl parathion, phenol, pentachlorophenol, 2,4 dichlorophenol, 1,2 dichloroethane and Kepone. Nosocomial pneumonia is a common complication in patients on mechanical ventilation and results in significant mortality. Diagnosis of pneumonia in patients who are intubated and under mechanical ventilation is difficult, even with the aid of clinical, laboratorial, and endoscopic tests. The objective of this study was to compare three methods of tracheal sputum collection in patients with a clinical and radiological diagnosis of pneumonia. Twenty-two patients with a clinical diagnosis of liver disease were enrolled, 18 years of age or older, 13 males and nine females, who had been mechanically ventilated over an intubation period of 5.86 ± 4.62 days. El presente trabajo comprende el estudio de la distribution cualitativa y cuantitativa del fitoplancton en el Golfo de Guayaquil, durante dos épocas: Húmeda y seca. El propósito del presente trabajo con respecto al zooplankton está orientado a conocer los cambios en la composición, abundancia y diversidad del zooplancton y en particular el Phyllum Chaetognatha con el objetivo de relacionar la distribución de las especies de Quetognatos con los parámetros físicos. En lo relacionado al estudio del microbentos, se pretende estudiar la composición específica y la abundancia relativa de las especies de la microflora béntica y de la microfauna bentónica y su relación con factores ambientales.

The objective of this work was to study the dynamics of litter decomposition of Arachis pintoi (pinto peanut), Hyparrhenia rufa (thatching grass) and a mixture of both species in a lowland soil. Estudou-se o efeito da adição de enzimas fibrolíticas (celulase e xilanase) sobre a degradabilidade in situ da matéria seca (MS), proteína bruta (PB), fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), fibra em detergente ácido (FDA) e hemicelulose da silagem de milho (SM) e da palha de arroz (PA), utilizando seis bovinos fistulados no rúmen. Também foi avaliada a proporção de nitrogênio (N) insolúvel em detergente ácido em relação ao N total (NIDA/N total). The objective of this study was to estimate the dehydration curve and occurrence of fungi and mycotoxins in Tifton 85 hay. The experimental design was randomized blocks in split plots with four replications and five levels of nitrogen (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 kg ha-1) in the form of urea, two regrowth ages (28 and 35 days) and drying hay in the sun and in shed.
