ABSTRACT: Cratylia argentea is a promising shrub forage legume native of Cerrado ecosystem. Information concerning the reproductive phenology, seed morphology, and seed production and storage are presented. Seed production varies with genotype, age, and spacing of the plants. Seeds of Cratylia argentea can be harvested manually, sun dried and hand cleaned. Seed dormancy is absent. Storage in room conditions, sustain the seed quality for one year from the harvest date. Cold storage is necessary for long-term conservation. Initial seed quality and the genotypic response to storage condition should be considered in the adoption of conservation and use strategies. Increasing demand for seeds of Cratylia argentea will need the development of mechanized harvest...

The publication describes outcomes of a study conducted in 2007/08 to analyze the bottlenecks affecting the production and deployment of maize seed in eastern and southern Africa. The objectives of the study were to provide a better understanding of the factors limiting the production and deployment of improved maize seed in Africa, and to contribute to increasing the efficiency of variety release, seed production and seed dissemination for new drought tolerant maize varieties. 'BRS Campeiro' is the result of a mutational program developed by Embrapa Rice and Beans and the Nuclear Energy Center for Agriculture of the University of São Paulo. Embrapa Rice and Beans received this purple-colored seed line FEB 163 from CIAT and released it in 2002 under the trade name 'BRS Timbo'. It stands for superior yield potential , excellent cooking performance, semi-erect plant type, resistance to lodging and to major diseases, and was recommended for cultivation in the States of Goias, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Minas Gerais.

This cultivar originated from a multiple cross performance at Embrapa Rice and Beans. It was released in 2002 under the trade name BRS Vereda , for the States of Goiás/Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Minas Gerais.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar a variabilidade fenotipica da capacidade fisiológicas de produção de sementes em acessos de diferentes espécies do gênero Paspalum nas condições edafoclimaticas da região central do estado de São Paulo. O delineamento em blocos ao acaso com três repetições foi usado. As características época de florescimento principal e capacidade de diferenciação fisiológicas para produção de sementes foram determinadas. As sementes colhidas foram plantadas em outro ensaio a campo e também submetidas a testes de germinacao em condições de temperatura, luz e umidade controladas para determinacao de sua capacidade de germinacao e vigor inicial das plantas em condições de campo. Dos 215 acessos abaliados, 1,86% não se estabeleceram...
