A magyar mezõgazdaság sikeressége a hatvanas hetvenes években AgEcon
Dimeny, Imre; Lakner, Zoltan.
Out of the attempts made at modernising the Hungarian society and economy in the era of socialism it was only the agricultural transition and development that has brought a long, internationally recognised success. The Hungarian agricultural model has become a point of reference for numerous developing countries, and was widely recognised even in the developed world. The aim of this article is to analyse the driving forces and socio-economic environment in the formation of the Hungarian agricultural model as well as its results, object lessons and experiences. The authors emphasise the specific aspects of the Hungarian agricultural development, contrasting it with that of Western- and Eastern-Europe. It was underlined, that the most important drivers of...

DESENVOLVIMENTO DE UM SISTEMA COMPUTACIONAL PARA CÁLCULO DO CUSTO DO KM PERCORRIDO E ANÁLISE DE RENTABILIDADE DE TRANSPORTADORA DE CARGAS AgEcon
Carmo, Eliane Almeida do; Lopes, Marcos Aurelio; Carvalho, Francisval de Melo.
The objective of this work was to develop a computing system aiming to aid both the technicians and managers of the branch of load transportation to calculate the cost of the kilometer covered by load trucks as well as to perform the yield analysis of a transporting enterprise. The computing system was developed by utilizing Microsoft Excel®. The system possesses a accounting plan which enables to the user the cadastering of all the expenditures and incomes. In addition, it allows the cadastering of the initial investments of the movables and improvements acquired, aiming to include the fixed costs concerning the depreciation. The system possesses abstract-spreadsheet which informs the user the result of the final of the period of each truck and also the...

Enhancing the Resilience of the Australian National Electricity Market: Taking a Systems Approach in Policy Development Ecology and Society
Newell, Barry; Australian National University Canberra ; barry.newell@anu.edu.au; Marsh, Debborah M; University of Technology Sydney; dmarsh@eng.uts.edu.au; Sharma, Deepak; University of Technology Sydney; Deepak.Sharma@uts.edu.au.
As the complexity and interconnectedness of present-day social-ecological systems become steadily more apparent, there is increasing pressure on governments, policy makers, and managers to take a systems approach to the challenges facing humanity. However, how can this be done in the face of system complexity and uncertainties? In this paper we briefly discuss practical ways that policy makers can take up the systems challenge. We focus on resilience thinking, and the use of influence diagrams, causal-loop diagrams, and system archetypes. As a case study, set in the context of the climate-energy-water nexus, we use some of these system concepts and tools to carry out an initial exploration of factors that can affect the resilience of the Australian...

Performances study of interferometric radar altimeters: from the instrument to the global mission definition ArchiMer
Enjolras, Vivien; Vincent, Patrick; Souyris, Jean-claude; Rodriguez, Ernesto; Phalippou, Laurent; Cazenave, Anny.
The main limitations of standard nadir-looking radar altimeters have been known for long. They include the lack of coverage (intertrack distance of typically 150 km for the T/P / Jason tandem), and the spatial resolution ( typically 2 km for T/P and Jason), expected to be a limiting factor for the determination of mesoscale phenomena in deep ocean. In this context, various solutions using off-nadir radar interferometry have been proposed by Rodriguez and al to give an answer to oceanographic mission objectives. This paper addresses the performances study of this new generation of instruments, and dedicated mission. A first approach is based on the Wide-Swath Ocean Altimeter (WSOA) intended to be implemented onboard Jason-2 in 2004 but now abandoned. Every...

THE NECESSITY OF STRATEGIC THINKING IN HUNGARIAN AGRIBUSINESS AgEcon
Lakner, Zoltan; Husti, Istvan.
Based on analysis of a time series of Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) indicator and Relative Trade Advantage Index the performance of Hungarian agriculture and food industry has declined rapidly during the last fifteen years. This fact highlights the importance of searching new paradigms in development. In short term the increasing of production–quantity does not seem to be a rational way. The only alternative is the product–differentiation strategy. Under conditions of increasing competition in foreign markets the importance of domestic markets gains in importance. The domestic market is a dynamic one, too: the producers should be better focussed of new demands of specific consumer segments (e.g. elder generations, ethnic minorities etc…). On the...
