2-Amino-4-Chloro-6-Methyl Pyrimidine 抑制氮肥硝化作用之研究(第二報) Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute
徐水泉; 溫西濱; S.C. Hsu; C.P. Wen.
[[abstract]]1. 1. Following the preliminary report, the effect of A.M. was further studied on certain soils of varied properties. 2. The effect of A.M. was larger in sandy soil than in loamy or clayey soil. 3. A.M. may be advantageous for the cultivation methods under which denitrification is inevitable. (e. g., direct, sowing of rice under upland condition.)

A Basic Approach to Implement Guided Tractor Control CIGR Journal
R. Freimann.
Within a continuous development of mobile agricultural machinery the application and further introduction of electronic controls is offering the fare most potential for working processes optimization. The article gives an introduction to tractor and implement controls, especially targeting implement guided tractor control, underlined with two executed examples for this advanced control design. A structured development model and basic knowledge on safe and robust control loop set-ups were developed. Potential conflict scenarios within the multi master control system of driver, tractor, implement and independently pre-planned task control were identified and solved by arbitrational state strategies. The two exemplarily executed demonstration examples utilize...

A Computer Model to Select Optimum Size of Farm Power and Machinery for Paddy-Wheat Crop Rotation in Northern India CIGR Journal
R. C. Dash; College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology.
Selection of proper size of farm power and machinery is the most important component of any farm enterprise. Among the various inputs to the crop production system, power and machinery jointly represent the largest single item of expenditure constituting about 60% of the total investment on a farm. The decision on optimum size of machinery is quite critical not only because of the high proportion of total cost attributed to machinery but also due to the infrequency and irrevocability of such decisions. Computer based least cost models were developed in C programming language for the selection of optimum size power and machinery system for paddy-wheat cropping system with the input like area under the crop, soil type, number of operations for each crop,...

A contribution to the wood anatomy of South American (Chiefly Suriname) Rubiaceae. I Naturalis
Koek-Noorman, J..
A general description of the structure of the wood of the Rubiaceae is given, based on examination of samples from most subfamilies. The results of the author’s investigation are compared with the data in the literature. The features of vessels, rays, and parenchyma agree well with those reported by other investigators. When the fibres are divided into libriform fibres and fibre tracheids in the sense of Janssonius, the correlation between the distribution of these organs and recent taxonomic subdivisions of the family is better than when all fibres with bordered pits are regarded as fibre tracheids.

A contribution to the wood anatomy of South American (Chiefly Suriname) Rubiaceae. II Naturalis
Koek-Noorman, J..
This paper contains a discussion of the taxonomic subdivisions of the Rubiaceae as proposed by Schumann, Verdcourt, and Bremekamp. Generally speaking, the subdivisions as proposed and delimited by Bremekamp agree best with the characters of the wood structure, as observed by the author. Furthermore a key to the Suriname genera is given.

A new Echinogammarus of the berilloni – group E. Aquilifer nov.sp., from the Pyrenees (Crustacea, Amphipoda) Naturalis
Pinkster, S..
During a short trip in the western part of the Pyrenees in August 1968 many samples of Gammaridae were collected both on the French and Spanish slopes of this mountain chain. Most of the specimens collected appeared to belong to the species Echinogammarus berilloni (Catta, 1878), or to closely related forms, but likewise it became clear that there exists a great morphological diversity in this group ofE. berilloni. This diversity, often called variability, was noticed already by Spandl ( 1926 ) and Margalef ( 1956 ) and made a more detailed study desirable. A great difficulty is the absence of a good and detailed description and trustworthy figures ofE. berilloni. The following published figures may serve as a basis for recognition of this species : Catta,...

A new species of Meroscolex from Suriname (Oligochaeta, Glossoscolecidae) Naturalis
Righi, G..
The genus Meroscolex Černosvitov, 1934, comprised only two species: M. guianicus Černosvitov and M. longissimus Černosvitov, both known only from French Guiana (Černosvitov, 1934: 56; 1935: 29). A third species, from Suriname, is described in the present paper. Meroscolex hoogmoedi n. sp. Material: Suriname, valley of Coeroeni River, approximately 3°2o'N 57°2o'W, leg. A new subspecies of Cerceris sabulosa (Panzer, 1799) (Hymenoptera, Sphecidae) from Corsica Naturalis
Empey, H.N..
Whilst engaged in revising the Aethiopian species of Cerceris Latreille, 1802, the author had pleasure in identifying a small collection belonging to the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden, kindly submitted to him by Dr. M. A. Lieftinck. This collection comprised specimens collected in Aethiopian territories, North Africa and Corsica, the North African and Corsican species having been personally collected by Dr. Lieftinck. A subsequent study of the Corsican material led to the discovery of an apparent new subspecies of Cerceris sabulosa (Panzer, 1799) (Philanthinae, tribe Cercerini) and it is fitting that Dr. Lieftinck is honoured here with this subspecific discovery. Cerceris sabulosa lieftincki subspec. nov. Female: 11 mm long. In coloration...

A NOTE ON LIVESTOCK BREEDING POLICIES IN STABLE AND DEVELOPMENT SITUATIONS AgEcon
Byrne, P.F.; Healy, A.T.A..
Multi-stage linear programming is used to develop sheep replacement policies in a number of different situations. Policies are developed for eight and sixteen year periods assuming, firstly a constant feed supply, and secondly, an increasing feed supply over the period. The results show the optimal flock composition together with the sheep sale activities for each year of the plan. The marginal value products indicate which constraints are the most important and whether any should be relaxed in order to make the model more realistic. It is concluded that it is not necessary to use a very long planning period in order to determine the activities for the early years. The results from the shorter planning period appear to be consistent with long-term goals.
