| Resumo: |
The study was conducted to determine farmers’ knowledge on organic vegetables cultivation. The study also attempted to describe some selected characteristics of organic vegetables cultivation and explore the relationships with knowledge on organic vegetables cultivation. A survey method of face-to-face interview using semi structured questionnaire was used to collect data from organic vegetable growers in Samsung, Khon Kaen, and Northeast Thailand which was selected by using simple random sampling method. Data were collected by semi structured interview schedule from 51 randomly selected households. Data revealed that highest proportion (70.6%) of organic vegetables’ grower had relatively low knowledge while 29.4 % of them had medium knowledge and had 0% of high knowledge. Age, education, family size, farming experience, training receive and the communication of the vegetables grower had significant positive relationship with their knowledge on organic vegetables production while area crop grown, input cost and annual family income showed the negatively significant relationship. Farm size was not significant of farmer’s knowledge. However, knowledge on organic farming could be increased by more training, farming experience, communication etc.
