Program on research and development of rainfed lowland rice in northeastern Thailand which collaborate with the National Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) was carried out the project to develop a medium maturing, blast resistant, non-glutinous rice line. The cross between IR57514-PMI-5-B-1-2 and RGDU99016-MAS-77 was developed and the progenies were backcrossed to IR57514-PMI-5-B-1-2 for 3 times at RGDU, BIOTEC. The selected promising line; RGDU06337-MAS-122-B-B, was finally obtained. This line is a non-glutinous, photoperiod sensitive, medium maturing which flowers approximately on October 20 and is ready for harvest on November 21. The average number of panicles per hill is 11 panicles. The average plant height is 118 cm with strong stem and not easily lodge. The average yield from on-station yield trials is about 547 kg/rai. Under heavy blast infestation conditions, it gave about 80% higher yield than KDML105, while under blast-free conditions, it gave about 11% higher yield than KDML105. The hull color of this line is straw/brown spot. The grain shape is slender with the length of brown rice 7.19 mm. It has medium chalkiness and has good milling quality with 54.7% head rice. For grain chemical qualities, it has high amylose content of 26.3% and has low gelatinization temperature. The cooked rice is intermediate sticky and moderately soft in texture with aroma. The advantages of this line are resistant to leaf blast, shorter than KDML105, strong stem, not easily lodge. However, its disadvantages are susceptible to neck blast and bacterial leaf blight.
โครงการวิจัยและพัฒนาพันธุ์ข้าวนาน้ำฝนในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือร่วมมือกับศูนย์พันธุวิศวกรรมและเทคโนโลยีชีวภาพแห่งชาติ พัฒนาสายพันธุ์ข้าวเจ้าอายุปานกลางให้ต้านทานต่อโรคไหม้ ต้นเตี้ย จนได้ข้าวเจ้าสายพันธุ์ดีเด่น RGDU06337-MAS-122-B-B ซึ่งคัดเลือกได้จากการผสมระหว่างข้าวเจ้าสายพันธุ์ IR57514-PMI-5-B-1-2 กับข้าวเจ้าสายพันธุ์ RGDU99016-MAS-77 โดยผสมกลับไปหาสายพันธุ์ IR57514-PMI-5-B-1-2 จำนวน 3 ครั้ง ที่หน่วยปฏิบัติการค้นหาและใช้ประโยชน์ยีนข้าว ศูนย์พันธุวิศวกรรมและเทคโนโลยีชีวภาพแห่งชาติ สายพันธุ์ RGDU06337-MAS-122-B-B เป็นข้าวเจ้าไวต่อช่วงแสง อายุปานกลาง ออกดอกประมาณวันที่ 20 ตุลาคม เก็บเกี่ยวประมาณ 21 พฤศจิกายน จำนวน 11 รวงต่อกอ ความสูงเฉลี่ย 118 เซนติเมตร ลำต้นแข็ง ไม่หักล้มง่าย ให้ผลผลิตเฉลี่ยในสภาพแปลงทดลองของศูนย์วิจัยข้าว 547 กิโลกรัมต่อไร่ ในสภาพที่มีโรคไหม้ระบาดให้ผลผลิตสูงกว่าพันธุ์ขาวดอกมะลิ 105 ร้อยละ 80 ในสภาพที่ไม่มีโรคไหม้ระบาดให้ผลผลิตสูงกว่าพันธุ์ขาวดอกมะลิ 105 ร้อยละ 11 เป็นข้าวเจ้าเปลือกสีฟางกระน้ำตาล เมล็ดข้าวกล้องยาว 7.19 มิลลิเมตร รูปร่างเรียว ท้องไข่ปานกลาง คุณภาพการสีดีมาก ได้ข้าวเต็มเมล็ดและต้นข้าว ร้อยละ 54.7 อมิโลสสูง ร้อยละ 26.3 อุณหภูมิแป้งสุกต่ำ ข้าวสวยไม่เหนียว ไม่ร่วน มีกลิ่นหอม ลักษณะเด่นคือต้านทานต่อโรคไหม้ ต้นเตี้ยกว่าพันธุ์ขาวดอกมะลิ 105 ลำต้นแข็ง ไม่หักล้มง่าย แต่มีข้อควรระวังคืออ่อนแอต่อโรคไหม้คอรวง และขอบใบแห้ง
