This study aims to evaluate the farmers' preference to promising irrigated rice lines grown in farmers' fields in north eastern Thailand during wet season 2013. The preference analyses were carried out at 2 stages; at reproductive stage to evaluate for agronomic characteristics, and after harvest to evaluate for grain physical qualities and cooking qualities. Two sets of promising lines were evaluated; glutinous and non-glutinous set. At the reproductive stage, the preference analyses were carried out in 3 provinces. It was found that the glutinous cultivar RD10 and the non-glutinous line KKN01041-23-2-1-1 were the most preferred cultivar/line by farmers. The reasons for their preference were because of the following traits; strong stem, good tillering ability, erect stem, large, long and compacted panicle, healthy and uniform seed set, lots of seed per panicle, and good grain shape. After harvest, the preference analyses were carried out in 4 provinces. The results from the preference analyses of rough rice, cold and warm cooked rice indicated that the glutinous line UBN02020-13-8-R-R was the most preferred line by farmers. The reasons given by farmers who preferred this line were those; large, healthy and heavy grain, shinny, soft and sticky cooked rice. On the other hand, the milled rice of KKN04023-NKI-14-2-6-1 was the most preferred by farmers because of its long, slender and white colour with few broken grains. For non-glutinous lines, the most preferred by farmers for its paddy, milled and cooked rice was the line KN01041-23-2-1-1. The reasons given by those farmers who preferred this line were that; long, slender, white, shinny, healthy and heavy grains, few broken grains, soft in texture and fluffy cooked rice. The information obtained from this study is used not only for a new varietal release but also for future breeding program.
งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อประเมินการยอมรับของเกษตรกรต่อข้าวนาชลประทานสายพันธุ์ดีเด่นในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือโดยเกษตรกรมีส่วนร่วมในการคัดเลือกสายพันธุ์ข้าว ดำเนินการในแปลงเปรียบเทียบผลผลิตในนาราษฎร์ 3 จังหวัด ฤดูนาปี พ.ศ.2556 ในระยะก่อนเก็บเกี่ยวและหลังเก็บเกี่ยว ใช้ข้าวพันธุ์ทดสอบ 2 ชุด คือ ข้าวเหนียว และ ข้าวเจ้า มีวิธีการประเมินความชอบในลักษณะทางการเกษตร พบว่า ชุดข้าวเหนียวพันธุ์ กข10 และ ข้าวเจ้าสายพันธุ์ KKN01041-23-2-1-1 เป็นพันธุ์ที่ได้รับคะแนนความชอบจากเกษตรกรสูงสุด ซึ่งเกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่ให้เหตุผลว่า เป็นสายพันธุ์ที่มีลักษณะลำต้นแข็งแรง แตกกอดี กอตั้ง ใบสวย รวงมีขนาดใหญ่ ยาว ระแง้ถี่ การติดเมล็ดสม่ำเสมอ จำนวนเมล็ดต่อรวงมาก และเมล็ดสวย ขณะที่วิธีการประเมินความชอบในลักษณะทางกายภาพและเคมีของเมล็ด ดำเนินการใน 4 จังหวัด ผลการประเมินพบว่า สายพันธุ์ข้าวเหนียวที่เกษตรกรให้การยอมรับสูงสุดในลักษณะข้าวเปลือก ข้าวนึ่งสุกอุ่น ข้าวนึ่งสุกเย็น คือ UBN02020-13-8-R-R โดยเกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่ให้เหตุผลว่า เมล็ดมีขนาดใหญ่ น้ำหนักดี สีเมล็ดสวย ข้าวเต็มเมล็ด สีขาวใส เลื่อมมัน และเหนียว นุ่ม ในขณะที่สายพันธุ์ข้าวที่มีลักษณะของข้าวสารที่เกษตรกรมีความชอบมากที่สุด คือ KKN04023-NKI-14-2-6-1 เนื่องจากเมล็ดเรียว ยาว ขาวใส และเมล็ดไม่หัก ส่วนข้าวเจ้า พบว่าสายพันธุ์ข้าวที่ผ่านการประเมินความชอบสูงสุดในลักษณะ ข้าวเปลือก ข้าวสารและข้าวสวย คือ KKN01041-23-2-1-1 เกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่ให้เหตุผลว่า เมล็ดเรียว ยาว ข้าวเต็มเมล็ด น้ำหนักดี เมล็ดไม่หัก ขาวใส นุ่ม และหุงขึ้นหม้อ อย่างไรก็ตามผลการประเมินในครั้งนี้นอกจากจะเป็นข้อมูลประกอบการพิจารณารับรองพันธุ์แล้ว ยังสามารถนำข้อคิดเห็นจากเกษตรกรในพื้นที่มาใช้ประกอบการปรับปรุงพันธุ์ข้าวในอนาคตได้
