Data:  2013-03-20 Ano:  1979 Resumo:  Seven petroleum aggregates (of 30 mm diameter) caught in the East Atlantic region are found to contain 81 specimens of free-living nematodes. 80 of them belong to the Chromadarina cf. laeta (de Man 1876) Mic. 1924 species, one belongs to Camacolaimus sp. Ch. cf. laeta is represented by juvenile and puberal forms (males and females). Detection of considerable number of nematodes shows that inside the petroleum aggregate there exist rather favourable living conditions for eurybiont species. This group of organisms is likely to utilize petroleum aggregates not only as a substrate but is able to actively digest their organic components.
