RESUMO: O estudo objetivou avaliar o consumo voluntário, a digestibilidade aparente e a composição química da forragem de Paspalum atratum capim Pojuca em diferentes idades de rebrotação. O experimento foi desenvolvido na Embrapa Cerrados, Planaltina - DF. A forragem foi cortada correspondendo a idade de rebrotação entre 22 e 28, 29 e 35, 36 e 42 e 43 e 49 dias e, subseqüentemente, fornecida fresca, em gaiolas metabólicas, a dezesseis novilhos de sobreano inteiros, com aproximadamente 240 kg de peso vivo (PV). Os intervalos de corte foram designados de 3, 4, 5 e 6 semanas respectivamente. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos completos ao acaso com quatro repetições. Os animais foram agrupados de acordo com seus pesos. A técnica de coleta total foi usada para avaliar o consumo e a digestibilidade. Os teores de matéria seca (MS), matéria orgânica (MO) e constituintes da parede celular (fibra em detergente neutro, fibra em detergente ácido, celulose, hemicelulose, lignina e sílica) aumentaram com a maturidade da forragem. Porém, com o aumento da maturidade, os teores de proteína bruta e extrato etéreo diminuíram. O consumo de MS, expresso %PV e g/kg PV0,75 decresceram de 2,23 para 1,86 e de 89,20 para 73,54 entre a terceira e a sexta semanas, respectivamente. O consumo de fibra em detergente neutro variou de 1,54% na terceira semana para 1,33 % do PV na sexta semana. A digestibilidade aparente da MS e da MO decresceram de 61,89% para 52,25% e de 69,75% para 61,53% respectivamente, no mesmo período. O capim Pojuca deve ser fornecido a bovinos em estágios de desenvolvimento variando de 22 a 35 dias devido ao seu melhor valor alimentício neste período. ABSTRACT: This study aimed to evaluated the voluntary intake, the aparent digestibility and the chemical composition of Paspalum atratum grass Pojuca forage. The experiment was developed at Embrapa Cerrados, Planaltina, Federal District, Brazil. The forege was cut at regrowth periods of 22 to 28, 29 to 35, 36 to 42 and 43 to 49 days and was subsequently fed green to sixteen yearling beef cattle bulls (240 kg of liveweigth - LW) under metabolic cages conditions. The forage cut intervals were designated 3, 4, 5 and 6 weeks, respectively. The experimental design consisted of a randomized complete block design with four replicates. The animals were grouped according to their weight. The total fecal collection technique was used to evaluate the forage intake and the apparent digestibility. Intake and digestibility trial was made with yearling beef cattle bulls in metabolic cages. The dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), and cell wall contents (neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, clulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and silica) increased with forage maturity. However, with increasing maturity the crude protein and the ether extract contents decreased. The DM intake, expressed as % LW or as g/LW0,75, decreased from 2,23 to 1,86 and from 89,20 to 73,54, respectively, between the third and the sixth week. Neutral detergent fiber intakes (%LW) varied from 1,54% in the third week to 1,33% in the sixth week. The DM apparent digestibility and the OM apparent digestibility decreased from 61,89% to 52,25% and from 69,75% to 61,53%, respectively, in the same period. Pojuca grass should be fed to cattle at maturity stages varying from 3 to 5 weeks given its best feeding value at that time.
