To examine the use of low energy electrons as a method of seed dressing in ecologi¬cal agriculture, especially concerning its influence on seed vitality, samples of wheat, rye and barley were investigated by testing germination vigour under cold stress and by Bio crystallisation methods. Lowered germination speed indicated a decrease of seed vitality. Alterations of growth, like disturbance of gravitropism and an increased root:leaf ratio prove a significant impairment of the embryo by electron treatment. Results of biocristallisation and capillary dynamolysis indicate a loss of vital quality.
