Since early 21 century the landscape mosaic of middle Paraíba do Sul river valley has been rapidly modified by spreading of Eucalyptus patches in substitution to cattle grazing grasslands. On the other hand, the region have evidences of geomorphological instability due to occurrence of deep gullies caused by groundwater flows and landslide scars. Our current research interests are driven to understand the role played by Eucalyptus controlling the hillslope hydrology and explain how these changes may affect the regional landscape system. This paper presents the hydrological results in the headwater zone of a first order drainage basin in response to biota-soil-water interactions.
