In this paper we presented the partial results generated by the general scope of the project "Identification of sand mining open pit interference in the quantity and quality of sedimentary Quaternary aquifer groundwater in the Paraíba do Sul river floodplain area, Tremembé municipality of the São Paulo State", which established an environmental monitoring through procedures that embraces works and equipment installations in wells and piezometers, laboratory analysis of water and soil, pump tests, monthly monitoring of water quality and water levels of sedimentary Quaternary aquifer, in addition to cabinet works. Partial results presented here refer to the physical-chemical and bacteriological water samples taken in three locations, to follow an inactive open pit, the river Piracuama channel mouth and a well built along the inactive open pill landfill edge which vicinity have two piezometers, one atached to well and the other located 1,5 m away.
