The objective of this study is to evaluate existing temporal and spatial patterns in the precipitation historical data in the Paraíba do Sul watershed, using newly available geostatistical analysis. Resulting rainfall maps showed pronounced regional and seasonal variations as well as a strong association with the topographic map. This study is a work in progress and the authors are in the process of modeling the hydrological cycle components in the watershed to characterize the variations in consideration of the water demands of Eucaliptus plantations.
