Este artigo trata de indicadores de sustentabilidade em um sistema de produção com aplicação de vinhaça em solos de cultura de cana-de-açúcar (Saccharum officinarum L.).
The sustainability in the agroecossystems has been reason of discussions in several countries that need positive indexes in the agricultural production. The demand for a clean energy has been taking the increase in the production of alcohol in our country, at an incommensurable environmental cost for the several types of soils in the several areas. The progress of the agricultural area for the planting of the sugarcane in thousands of hectares that it will produce alcohol, to assist the crescent number of consumers, proprietors of automobiles flex fuel, in every planet, it contributes to the production of the vinhaça as one of the by-products in the production of the alcohol. For many years the vinhaça was discarded in rivers and streams, close to the distilleries. In function of his/her wealth in organic matter, the vinhaça presents a high index of DBO and DQO, being like this, characterized as material highly pollutant. In the last years, the alternative adopted by the sugar mill owners, to solve the problem of pollution of the courses of water, it has been theuse of the vinhaça as fertilizer, for possessing a wealth in organic matter and for possessing nutritious as the nitrogen, match, calcium and potassium. The indicators used starting from the head office PEI / ER, they make a reflection of the size of the study and to give a future for the sockets of decisions, once she should take into account the properties of the agroecossystems, as a system of maintainable production that provides the stability, productivity, sustainability and autonomy, with a focus every time more and more current that is it of including the binomial Man-society with a systemic vision and in a socioeconomic and environmental context.
