Zusammenfassung: Der Wettbewerbsdruck in der europäischen Milchviehhaltung nimmt durch die fortschreitende Liberalisierung des EUMilchmarktes zu. Bestehende agrarökonomische Forschungsmethoden sind nur begrenzt dazu in der Lage, belastbare Abschätzungen der regionalen Wettbewerbsfähigkeit und künftiger Standortverlagerungen innerhalb Europas zu treffen. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, in einem explorativen Verfahren einen Befragungsansatz zu schaffen, mit dem ein ergänzender Beitrag für eine solche Vorhersage geleistet werden kann. Der Befragungsansatz wurde innerhalb der Netzwerke „European Dairy Farmers“ und „agri benchmark“ entwickelt und in europäischen Milchviehbetrieben eingesetzt. Eine nicht repräsentative Auswahl dieser Betriebe bildet die Grundlage für die vorliegende regional differenzierte Analyse. Die Planungen und Erwartungen der befragten Landwirte geben sowohl Hinweise auf regionale Entwicklungen in der Milchproduktion als auch auf einzelbetriebliche Produktionsentwicklungen und Managementstrategien. Abschließend wird der Befragungsansatz hinsichtlich seiner Eignung als nachhaltig nutzbares Analyseinstrument beurteilt und es werden Vorschläge zur künftigen Weiterentwicklung unterbreitet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Summary: Competitive pressure in European dairy farming is increasing due to progressing liberalisation of the EU milk market. Existing agricultural economic methods proved to be insufficient to provide reliable estimates on regional competitiveness and future locational production shifts within Europe. The goal of this paper is to develop an explorative approach for questioning dairy farmers. In this way an additional scientific contribution to estimate production shifts shall be provided. The approach was developed within the networks “European Dairy Farmers” and “agri benchmark” and the survey was conducted among European dairy farmers. A nonrepresentative selection of these farms is the basis for this regionally differentiated analysis. Plans and expectations of participating farmers provide indications of regional developments in dairy production as well as individual developments in dairy farming and management strategies on the farm level. Finally the complete questioning approach is evaluated, and suggestions for future conceptual improvements are made in order to develop a suitable, longterm analytical instrument.
