Se describen los resultados obtenidos en el estudio de la cadena de valor del cultivo de la malanga en la zona norte de Nicaragua. Se ha pretendido mejorar el conocimiento sobre el papel que juega la cadena en la socio economía de la familias y actores rurales de los municipios del Tuma La Dalia, El Cua, Pantasma, Jinotega, San Ramón y Matagalpa. La información ha sido proporcionada por 105 productores y más de 20 actores distribuidos en el territorio. La pretensión central ha sido conocer la influencia de esta cadena de valor, sobre los actores en cada eslabón, desde la producción hasta la comercialización, encontrándonos que la competitividad del territorio está sujeta no solo a la existencia de empresas, organizaciones e instituciones, sino al capital social que se configura partiendo de la unidad productiva de la familia rural, hasta las más complejas expresiones asociativas, pero principalmente a su vinculación recíproca con los procesos de construcción de las cadenas de valor. Para evidenciar los alcances y objetivos de esta búsqueda, se han realizado, los cálculos económicos y sociales que está generando la cadena, más los niveles de aporte que tienen los sectores involucrados en la dinámica territorial. El enfoque de este estudio intenta no ser puramente económico, más bien es una propuesta que pretende comprender los procesos productivos vinculados a las cadenas de valor y su relación con la familia rural, los actores sociales y las implicaciones que se van derivando en la estructura sistémica de la cadena de malanga presente en los territorios, como elementos de discusión ante las nuevas propuestas de desarrollo rural territorial nicaragüense. _______________ THE CHAIN OF VALUE BY ROOTS AND TUBERCLES (COCOYAM) IN THE NORTH OF NICARAGUA. ABSTRACT: The present document describes the results obtained in the study of the chain of value of to cultivate the cocoyam in the North zone of Nicaragua. This study has looked for greater knowledge on the paper that plays the chain in the partner economy of the families and rural actors of the municipalities of the Tuma the Dahlia, the Cua, Pantasma, Jinotega, San Ramon and Matagalpa. The information has been provided by 105 producers and than 20 actors distributed more in the territory. The central pretension has been to know the influence this chain of value, on the actors in each link, from the production to the commercialization, finding us that the competitiveness of the territory is subject not only to the existence of companies, organizations and institutions, but to the share capital that is formed starting off of the productive unit of the rural family, until the most complex associative expressions, but mainly to their reciprocal entailment with the processes of construction of the value chains. In order to demonstrate the reaches and objectives of this search, they have been realized, the economic and social calculations that the chain is generating, plus the contribution levels that have the sectors involved in territorial dynamics. The approach of this study tries not to be purely economic, rather it is a proposal that it tries to include the tie productive processes to the value chains and their relation with the rural family, the social actors and the implications which they are derived in the systemic structure of the chain of present cocoyam in the territories, like discussion elements before the new proposals of Nicaraguan territorial rural development.
