Las ovejas de lana con T1 y T2 iniciaron más temprano el estro (P<0.05)._______The aim of this study was to determine if L-arginine’s addition in the nutritious portion, during three previous days to the insemination, it influences in ovulatory rates of hair and wool sheep. Seventy two hair ewes and forty nine wool ewes were used, which they were synchronized mediating internal devices impregnated with progesterone (CIDR, P4: 0.62 g), during nine days, and three days before to retirement it, they were assigned randomly at one of four treatments, which were: treatment one (T1): CIDR + eCG; treatment two (T2): CIDR + eCG + L-arginine 500 mg kg-1 live weight; treatment three (T3): CIDR + L-arginine 500 mg kg-1 live weight; and treatment four (T4): CIDR only. They were not differences (P>0.05) in external estrus percentage (EEP) for both races. Only hair sheep presented EEP at 100% with all treatments for both races. The beginning of hair sheep estrus with T1, showed up in smaller time (P < 0.05). Wool sheep with T1 and T2 began earlier the estrus (P < 0.05).
