The Atlantic halibut stock area comprises the NAFO subdivisions 3NOPs4VWX5Zc where total international catches has increased to about 2300 tonnes in 2013 and the TAC for 2014 has been set to 2563 tonnes. The St-Pierre et Miquelon uptake of the overall quota varies between 2 to 6 % over the last 10 years. In 2014, responding to a demand for improving the scientific cooperation, by the Canada France Consultative Committee (CFCC) for 3Ps management, SPM began the monitoring of the autumn fishery by on-board observer. The objectives were to provide the stock assessment working group with information on maturity given that the fishery is fishing on a spawning ground.
Le stock de flétan de l'Atlantique s'étend sur les sous-divisions 3NOPs4VWX5Zc de l'OPANO, les captures internationales totales ont augmenté jusqu'à 2300 tonnes en 2013, et les TAC a été fixé à 2563 tonnes pour 2014. La part du TAC capturée par les pêcheries de St-Pierre et Miquelon varie de 2 à 6% lors des 10 dernières années. En 2014, répondant à une demande d'amélioration de la coopération scientifique, par le comité consultatif frano-canadien (CCFC) pour la gestion des ressources du 3Ps, St-Pierre et Miquelon a commencé à suivre la pêcherie d'automne ciblant le flétan de l'Atlantique par un observateur en mer. Les objectifs étaient de fournir de l'information sur les stades de maturité au groupe d'évaluation, sachant que cette pêcherie opère au moment de la reproduction du flétan.
