The Water Framework Directive (WFD) sets an objective of "good condition" for aquatic environments by 2015. Its implementation along the shoreline is the object of a well-established collaboration between the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development (which became the Ministry of Sustainable Ecology, Development and Urban Planning), the Water Agencies and IFREMER. While the MEDD/IFREMER national agreement brings elements of methodology and general knowledge for managing French shoreline policy, it covers only very partially the needs of shoreline politics in Brittany and the Pays de la Loire region, and requires supplementary items linked to the specifics of the Loire-Brittany shoreline: very widespread and numerous water masses due to the presence... |
