As areas irrigadas do Nordeste brasileiro tem apresentado um crescimento significativo. Nestes polos de irrigacao a fruticultura apresenta destaque importante, sendo a goiabeira uma cultura que tem despertado o interesse dos produtores. Estima-se, hoje, somente no submedio Sao Francisco uma area plantada proxima de 600 a 700 hectares. A irrigacao nesta regiao proporciona a goiabeira varios surtos de crescimento, o que possibilita colheitas quase continuas durante todo o ano. Isto alem de dificultar o controle das principais pragas dos frutos, nao permite ao pequeno irrigante, um volume de frutos que lhe assegure algumas vantagens competitivas. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a influência de fatores edafoclimáticos sobre a produtividade da primeira (R1) e da segunda rotação (R2) de cultivo do eucalipto, manejadas nos sistemas de alto fuste e talhadia, respectivamente. Foram usados os dados de 265 parcelas de inventário florestal de plantações clonais do híbrido E. grandisx urophylla, localizadas em seis municípios do nordeste da Bahia. Os dados de crescimento das plantações nas duas rotações de cultivo foram relacionados com os dados pluviométricos e edáficos. Utilizou-se o teste T pareado, a análise de conglomerados e a regressão multivariada para a análise estatística dos dados. O estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a formação de grupos funcionais em duas áreas de Cerrado sentido restrito com diferentes históricos de fogo, em Planaltina, DF, em 1994 e em 2012. Na Área 1, foram aplicadas queimadas bienais, em agosto de 1988, 1990 e 1992; na Área 2, houve proteção do fogo até julho de 1994. Em agosto de 1994 um fogo acidental atingiu as duas áreas, mas de setembro de 1994 até 2012 estas áreas foram protegidas. In the current understanding of axons, axoplasmic synthesis of proteins is negated, and it is asserted that proteins are transported from perikarya to axons. This 'transport model' in which axons are fully dependent of perikarya is seriously flawed. The 'autonomous axon' proposed here negates in turn transport of proteins, and asserts (i) local synthesis of axoplasmic proteins, corner stone of this model, (ii) existence of internal programs in axon and terminals, (iii) external control of programs resulting in local regulation of phenotype of axons and terminals, hence they are autonomous from perikarya; (iv) participation of perikarya through the fast transport in setting up the axonal programs but not in their immediate regulation. We evaluated the effects of fire on the vegetative phenological behavior (crown foliage cover, sprouting, mature and young leaves) of woody species at two sites in the Brazilian savanna, one of which had been accidentally burned. We used generalized additive mixed models to test the hypothesis that: 1) fire damages total foliage cover, thus leading to changes in vegetative phenological patterns. As this hypothesis was corroborated, we also tested whether 2) the damage caused by fire to the total crown foliage cover and mature leaves is greater in evergreen than in deciduous species, and 3) the negative effects of fire on vegetative phenology persist after the first fire-free year. The thalamus is an important modulator of seizures and is severely affected in cholinergic models of epilepsy. In the present study, chronically epileptic rats had their brains processed for neo-Timm and acetylcholinesterase two months after the induction of status epilepticus with pilocarpine. Both controls and pilocarpine-treated animals presented neo-Timm staining in the anterodorsal nucleus, laterodorsal nucleus, reticular nucleus, most intralaminar nuclei, nucleus reuniens, and rhomboid nucleus of the thalamus, as well as in the zona incerta. The respiration rate (RR) (CO2 production), activation energy (Ea) and Q10 of maleic hydrazide-treated onion bulbs (Allium cepa, cv. Rouge Amposta) at 20.10-6 mol.L-1 (MH1) and 45.10-6 mol.L-1 (MH2) were measured at 4, 10 and 20ºC. Immediately after treatment, the Q10 of MH-treated and control bulbs were not significantly different. After 8 weeks of storage, Q10 of control and both MH-treated bulbs increased and ranged from 2.34 and 2.89. Respiration rate of onions increased during storage, and after 24 weeks, RR values of control, MH1 and MH2 were 0.43, 0.32 and 0.26 mmol CO2.kg-1.h-1 at 20ºC respectively; and 0.26, 0.20 and 0.17 mmol CO2.kg-1.h-1 at 10ºC respectively. ABSTRACT: Storage and remobilization are considered key processes for the effective use of nitrogen in temperate fruit trees. As dormancy begins, storage proteins are synthesized, coinciding with a reduction in the levels of free amino acids. Consequently, as dormancy breaks, these storage proteins are degraded, and an increase in the concentrations of amino acids occurs, in order to support new growth. In the regions with mild winters, usually the chilling requirements for bud dormancy release of grapevines are not fulfilled, and only the highly toxic products CaCN2 (calcium cyanamide) and H2CN2 (hydrogen cyanamide) are recommended in conventional viticulture for budbreak. The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of garlic extract on budbreak of 'Niagara Rosada' grapevines in two different vineyards. The highest dose of garlic extract (70mL L-1) showed a great potential for budbreak in organic production, presenting similar effects of cyanamides in budbreak. This treatment improved the sprouting percentage, number of clusters, accelerated the beginning of sprouting and reduced the cycle between pruning and harvest. |

ABSTRACT This study aimed to quantify water deficit levels that compromise sugarcane initial growth exposed to different availability soil depths. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse by using 100-liter capacity asbestos-cement boxes filled with different soil layers simulating depths of 10, 20, 30, and 40 cm. Water deficit levels were represented by accumulated reference evapotranspiration of 0, 40, 80, 120, 160, 200, 240, and 280 mm, which was considered from planting to irrigation return. Soil moisture at field capacity at planting time was sufficient to promote sprouting and emergence regardless the water deficit level that was subsequently exposed.
