A identificação... |

This note can be summarized in a few lines. It aimed to demonstrate that:1° S. setosa Müller, in its different distribution areas (North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea), is prone to undergo some variations in its size (especially the length of its caudal segment and ovaries); variations that cannot break the unity of the species;2° S. euxina Moltshanoff can be seen as a larger S. setosa; which could be called S. setosa var. euxina because of its distribution;3° it could be confirmed that S. friderici Ritter-Zahony can be considered as a relative species of S. setosa. |

We want to thank Anita Conti for entrusting us with some samples collected May 1, 1958, at the south-west of Belle-Ile, on board the "Tohy", a fishing launch from the Péchenart fleet. They are plankton samples collected at sea and at depths of 30 to 45 m, and in different parts of the digestive tract of basking sharks (Cetorhinus maximus Günner), abounding in the same waters. Let's take a look at these samples. |

In accordance with our original goal, this first study enabled us to find, for lack of previous data, the main aspects of the annual variations of the fat rate in the three most economically important herrings in Senegal. This exploration work forms an essential basis to set our future research protocols. It enabled us to specify the number of samples needed and their time distribution, in order to determine more precisely the annual biochemical variations of the studied fishes. The study of the biochemical transformations according to the environment also enabled us to foresee the existence of some correlations we aim to clarify in the future. |

On two adjoining parcels, one used as a control plot, the other spread with 25 kg of phosphate "F" (followed by a light harrowing) on a one are area, we placed some grypheae aged 21 months. The molluscs are emerged for an average of 4h30 at each tide.1° it seems that, at the level used and for the first few months, the phosphate caused a physiological derangement in oysters which resulted in a higher mortality rate than in the control oysters.2° after an experimental period of eleven months, laboratory experiments showed a great similarity between the two populations. However:a) If the weight of the wet tissues is about the same, the weight of the dry flesh of the molluscs which stayed on the phosphated soil was lower than that of the control oysters.b)... |

In 1957, some fishermen from Bages (Aude) informed one of us of the occasional presence in their pond of fishes they thought to be trouts.A few months later on April 7th, 1958, they sent us two specimens belonging, without any doubt, to the genus Salmo, and caught with a fixed net.Shortly after, on May 21st, in Villeroi, near Sète, two similar fishes were caught along the beach with a seine net. On the same day, another fish was caught with a line in the Sète canal. The next day, a trawler from Sète, the "Yvonne~Marie~Rose", caught the same type of salmonid between the Pointe des Aresquiers and Palavas, about 7 miles off the coast, in waters 40 to 45 m deep.It is not the first time fishes belonging to the genus Salmo have been caught in this area, but... |
