| Hylesia metabus Cramer es una polilla considerada un problema de salud pública debido a que las hembras adultas liberan setas urticantes produciendo dermatitis y prurito intenso en el hombre. En la región nororiental de Venezuela, en dos localidades (Mapire y Pedernales) y durante seis ciclos, se registró el parasitismo natural sobre esta polilla. Para ello, se colectaron pupas en el campo y se mantuvieron bajo condiciones de laboratorio (27ºC, 65% humedad relativa y ciclo invertido 12L:12O) hasta la eclosión de los adultos. Se determinó que en Mapire el parasitismo aumentó de 33,0% a 91,1% en tres ciclos consecutivos estudiados y los principales parasitoides fueron los Diptera: Belvosia spp. (Tachinidae) y Sarcodexia lambens (Sarcophagidae) y diversas... |

| To find the insects associated with seeds of a Brazilian native leguminous plant, Lonchocarpus muehlbergianus Hassl., fruits were collected from isolated trees in Tres Barras, Parana, Brazil. A sample of 500 g of fruits with 2353 seeds was evaluated in the laboratory. It was found that 77.4% of the seeds were not damaged by insects, 12.4% of the seeds were damaged and 10.2% of the seeds were empty. The bruchid species Ctenocolum crotonae (Fåhraeus) was detected for the first time in this plant. This species was recorded in Mato Grosso, Brazil and, in this paper, the geographical distribution is amplified to include Parana State. | Este estudo foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de determinar as espécies de parasitóides associadas com Diptera coletados em restos alimentares. A coleta de pupas de dípteros foi realizada duas vezes ao mês nos restos alimentares mantidos em bacias por mais de quinze dias. As pupas foram obtidas pelo método de flutuação e colocadas individualmente em cápsulas de gelatinas, onde foram mantidas até a emergência das moscas e/ou de parasitóides. A espécie mais freqüente foi Megaselia sp., correspondendo a 47,5% dos indivíduos coletados. A porcentagem total de parasitismo foi de 2,4%, sendo que em Musca domestica L., a taxa de parasitismo alcançou 20,0%. | Realizou-se um estudo sobre a fauna de artrópodes associada às fezes bovinas em Goiás, de janeiro a dezembro de 1998. O objetivo foi verificar a freqüência dos Coleoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera e Macrochelidae (Acarina) considerados importantes no processo de degradação das fezes bovinas nas pastagens e no controle de Diptera. Vinte placas fecais bovinas foram coletadas aleatoriamente, a cada mês, com oito dias de idade, colocadas em recipientes plásticos e levadas ao laboratório. Os artrópodes foram obtidos pelo método de flutuação em água. Foram coletados 52 espécies de artrópodes em 10 famílias, incluindo, 24 Coleoptera (três famílias), 12 Diptera (três famílias), 10 Hymenoptera (três famílias) e seis Macrochelidae (Acarina). |

| The present paper lists the type specimens of Hymenoptera, excluding Aculeata, deposited in the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. We record all labels contents and also additional information from MZSP registers, published material, and other available sources. High resolution photographs of holotypes, lectotypes and syntypes are available through links to Specimage - the image database of The Ohio State University, where they are archived. The collection comprises a total of 332 type-specimens (32 holotypes, 266 paratypes, 12 syntypes, 20 paralectotypes and two lectotypes) of eight superfamilies, 18 families, 31 subfamilies, 43 genera and 83 species. |

| The present catalogue lists the type specimes of 112 nominal " poneromorph" ant species housed in the Formicidae collection of the Hymenoptera laboratory, Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZSP). The catalogue includes types of Amblyoponinae, Ectatomminae, Heteroponerinae, Ponerinae, and Proceratiinae, that is, all poneromorph (sensu Bolton, 2003) but for the monotypic Paraponerinae, of which the collection bears no type specimens. We present here information on type categories (holotype, paratype, syntype, lectotype, and paralectotype), label data, nomenclatural changes since the original description and type specimens conservation status. At last we present indexes for the taxa names presented. |

| I hereby revise, for the second time, the primarily Neotropical solenopsidine ant genus Megalomyrmex, describing M. wettereri n. sp., of the Silvestrii group, based on workers and gynes. Megalomyrmex latreillei Forel is synonymyzed under M. foreli Emery. The gyne of M. poatan is described and that of M. wallacei redescribed; males of M. acauna, M. incisus and M. wallacei are described. | We present here a list of the Attini type material deposited in the Formicidae collection of the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZSP), Brazil. In total, the Attini (fungus-growing and leaf-cutting ants) collection includes types of 105 nominal species, of which 74 are still valid, whereas 31 are considered synonyms. The majority of the types in the MZSP collection are syntypes (74), but in the collection there are 4 species represented only by holotypes, 12 by holotypes and paratypes, 13 species only by paratypes, and 2 species by the lectotype and one paralectotype as well. | We describe a new species of Oxyepoecus Santschi, 1926, Oxyepoecus regularis sp. nov., based on workers and a gyne collected in "Caatinga Arbórea" (Arboreal Shrubland) in Milagres and "Mata Seca" (Dry Forest) in Boa Vista do Tupim, both in the state of Bahia, Brazil. The gyne of Oxyepoecus browni Albuquerque & Brandão, 2004, collected in the same leaf litter ant survey, is also described. | The oviposition behaviour of the braconid parasitoid, Compsobracon mirabilis ( Szépligeti, 1901) is described. Observations were conducted in a cerrado region located in Três Marias, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The oviposition occurred in a branch of Alibertia concolor (Cham.) K.
