Multiple resistance to glyphosate and imazethapyr in Bidens subalternans Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Mendes,Rafael Romero; Adegas,Fernando Storniolo; Takano,Hudson Kagueyama; Silva,Vanessa Francieli Vital; Machado,Fellipe Goulart; Oliveira Junior,Rubem Silvério de.
ABSTRACT Glyphosate has been widely used to control greater beggarticks populations that are resistant to acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitors in South America. However, herbicide control failures has been observed over the last three growing seasons in grain production areas of Paraguay. In this research, we report the first case of multiple resistance to glyphosate (EPSPs) and imazethapyr (ALS) in greater beggarticks (Bidens subalternans) population from Paraguay. This conclusion was supported by dose-response experiments conducted in two consecutive years (2018 and 2019) with a putative resistant (R) and a susceptible (S) population. Alternative herbicides were also tested for post-emergence control of R population. For glyphosate, the resistant...

African star grass response to postemergence herbicides Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Brighenti,Alexandre Magno; Benites,Flávio Rodrigo Gandolfi; Souza Sobrinho,Fausto.
ABSTRACT Cynodon nlemfuensis Vanderyst, commonly called African star grass, is excellent forage in pasture formation and herd feeding. However, little information is available regarding weed management in areas of star grasses. Two field experiments were carried out in 2017 and 2018 to evaluate the response of African star grass to postemergence herbicides. The treatments applied were as follows: 2,4-D (1,340.0 g ae ha-1); 2,4-D + picloram (720.0 +192.0 g ae ha-1 + 0.3% v/v nonionic surfactant); fluroxypyr + picloram (80.0 + 80.0 g ae ha-1 + 0.3% v/v mineral oil); fluroxypyr + aminopyralid (160.0 + 80.0 g ae ha-1 + 0.3% v/v mineral oil); fluroxypyr + triclopyr (320.0 + 960.0 g ae ha-1 + 0.3% v/v mineral oil); bentazon (720.0 g ai ha-1 + 0.5% v/v mineral...

Bioassay method for toxicity studies of insecticide formulations to Tuta absoluta (meyrick, 1917) Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Galdino,Tarcísio Visintin da Silva; Picanço,Marcelo Coutinho; Morais,Elisangela Gomes Fidelis de; Silva,Nilson Rodrigues; Silva,Geverson Aelton Rezende da; Lopes,Mayara Cristina.
Chemical control is the main method for controlling the tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick, 1917) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae). Reported techniques for the evaluation of insecticide toxicity to the tomato leafminer are not in agreement with field conditions and do not allow us to verify whether doses used in the field are efficient for control. Thus, the objective of this work was to develop a bioassay methodology to study the toxicity of insecticide formulations to T. absoluta that represent field conditions for fast-acting insecticides (neurotoxics and inhibitors of respiration) and slow-acting insecticides (Bacillus thuringiensis and insect growth regulators). The leaf-dip method was the most efficient method for toxicity studies of insecticides...
