| 17日齢のホルスタイン種雌子牛が，神経症状を示した. 病畜は頭部を左後方に折り曲げて伏臥姿勢を示し，時折自力で起立したがすぐに倒れ歩行不能であった. 神経学的検査では右の対光反射，威嚇瞬き反射，眼瞼反射， および音響耳介反射が消失していた. ビタミンB1，およびデキサメサゾンの投与により第7病日に歩行可能となったものの左への斜頸・旋回が認められ，神経学的検査所見に改善は認められなかった. 第7病日に病理解剖を行い，肉眼的には橋の断面右側に直径1cm大の膿瘍を認め，嫌気培養にてFusobacterium necrophorumが検出された. 左側への斜頸，聴覚の消失等の脳神経疾状は，橋の右側の膿瘍により内耳神経等の脳神経核が圧迫された結果出現した聴覚障害，平衡障害のためと考えられた. | A 49-month-old Holstein cow with anorexia, tachypnea, enlarged peripheral lymph nodes, and difficulty standing up was suspected of bovine leukosis. Hematological examination revealed lymphocytosis with the presence of neoplastic cells. Increased total lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity, isozymes of LDH-2 and LDH-3 activities and thymidine kinase activity were observed. Cytological findings of fine needle aspiration of subiliac lymph nodes indicated lymphosarcoma. | 38カ月齢のホルスタイン種乳牛において，体全体が左側に傾くという神経症状が進行性に認められた．経過，左側対光反射と左側音響耳介反応の減弱，及び聴性脳幹誘発電位測定検査における左刺激時Ⅲ波-Ⅴ波の遅延所見より，延髄から橋における片側性圧迫性病変を疑った．病理解剖の結果，橋左側に帯黄色脆弱化病巣を認め，病理組織学的検索により，病変は腫瘍であり，迷入組織に由来する可能性があるものの，原発組織は確定できなかった． |

| A 10-day-old, Japanese Black, female calf had shown astasia since just after birth. Focal symmetrical periventricular malacic lesions of the cerebrum and suppurative arthritis of the left hip joint were observed in macroscopic examination. Histologically, the cerebral lesions were confirmed as periventricular leukomalacia (PVL). The location and histological features of the lesions were similar to PVL in humans, caused by neonatal ischemia/hypovolemia. This is the first report of PVL in a neonatal calf. |

| Computed tomography (CT) was used for diagnosis of brain abscess in a 6-month-old, Japanese black calf presented with neurological dysfunction, compulsive circling and vision disturbance. CT images showed asymmetric lateral ventricles, and presence of intra-cranial multiple low absorption lesions surrounded by capsule suggestive of abscess in the right cerebral hemisphere. Postmortem examination revealed marked swelling of right cerebral hemisphere and olfactory bulb. Multilocular large abscess containing creamy pus was found to occupy most area of periventricular and lateral ventricle. | 3歳6カ月齢のホルスタイン種乳牛が、分娩2カ月後に食欲不振を主訴に受診した。第6病日には肺音粗励 と心音混濁が確認され、心内膜炎を疑った。第13病日の血液生化学検査では慢性炎症像が確認され、また心音 心電図解析の結果、Ⅰ音分裂と延長、および二峰性P波がみられた。さらに心臓超音波検査では、僧帽弁の疣 贅物と僧帽弁逆流、左心室と左心房の拡張が認められた。第16病日に実施された病理解剖では、僧帽弁に3× 2×2cm 大、三尖弁に3×1×1cm大の疣贅物がそれぞれ確認されたほか、腎梗塞および左肩と左膝の関節 炎がみられた。細菌学的検索では疣贅物、肺、腎臓、関節からは細菌が分離されず、心内膜炎とその他病変と の関係性を解明することができなかった。 |

| 病理学的に血様液貯留を特徴とする特発性心嚢水腫と診断された乳牛8症例（血様心嚢水貯留群）の臨床病理学的検査所見を回顧的に取りまとめ，心膜炎7症例（心膜炎群）の所見と比較した．血様心嚢水貯留群では冷性浮腫を呈する症例が心膜炎群に比べて多かったが，その他の臨床症状には両群で差がなかった．心エコー検査では血様心嚢水貯留群では，心膜炎でみられる心嚢内の顕著なフィブリン析出はなかった．血液及び生化学検査では，血様心嚢水貯留群では炎症像が弱く，心膜炎群と比較して白血球数，分葉核好中球割合，A/G比，アルブミン濃度，γグロブリン割合に有意差がみられた．両群でALP及びGGTの高値がみられたが，特に血様心嚢水貯留群のGGT増加は顕著であった．血様心嚢水貯留症例の診断は臨床症状だけでは困難であるが，心エコー検査所見，弱い炎症像，ALP及びGGTの高値などが心膜炎との鑑別診断に有用と考えられた． Clinicopathological findings of eight cases of idiopathic hydropericardium characterized by bloodhlike fluid (HBFhgroup) that were confirmed by necropsy were retrospectively summarized and compared with those of seven cows with pericarditis. | Five rabbits suffering from diarrhea were diagnosed with proliferative enteropathy (PE). Histopathology revealed a thickened mucosa consisting of hyperplastic intestinal epithelium and infiltration of inflammatory cells mainly consisted of macrophages. In the affected epithelial cytoplasm, numerous curved bacillus-like organisms were observed in the Warthin-Starry silver stain and electron microscopy observation. | 脊髄造影後の後遺障害発生のメカニズムについて、脊髄終末が犬より尾側に位置するウサギを用いて、行動観察、神経学的および病理組織学的に検討した。実験にはウサギ（n=12）を使用し、実験群は、(1)脊髄穿刺群、(2)生理的食塩水注入群、(3)等浸透圧ヨード造影剤イオジキサノール注入群、(4)低浸透圧ヨード造影剤イオヘキソール注入群とした。全身麻酔下で第5-6腰椎間より脊髄穿刺あるいは薬液を脊髄実質内に直接注入し、処置48時間後に行動観察および神経学的検査を、72時間後に病理組織学的検査を行うとともに、切片上での損傷面積率について評価した。神経学的検査では生理的食塩水注入群、イオジキサノール注入群およびイオヘキソール注入群で異常が認められた。また、穿刺部位の脊髄損傷面積率についても脊髄穿刺群と生理的食塩水注入群との間に明らかな差異が認められた。本研究の結果から、脊髄への薬液注入による組織の圧迫は、脊髄造影後の後遺障害を発生させる要因と考えられた。今後、脊髄造影を行う際には、脊髄針からの脳脊髄液の逆流を必ず確認し、造影剤の実質内注入を疑った場合には直ちに検査を中止することを提案する。なお、将来は獣医臨床における、より安全な脊髄造影手技の開発が望まれる。 The purpose of this experiment is to characterize the aftereffects of myelography of canine spinal cords using rabbits，since the distal end of the spinal cord of rabbits is more caudal than that of dogs. | The cryopreservation of ovarian tissues is a technology with significant potential for the preservation of the genetic resource materials of working dogs, including guide dogs for the blind. However, no attempt has been reported on cryopreservation of the canine ovary. | An 11-year-old Holstein-Friesian cow exhibited anorexia and jaundice. A large mass was found in the liver during necropsy. Macroscopically, the mass was composed of dark red multilobular tissue and a centrally located abscess, which was connected to the hepatic duct. Histologically, the mass consisted of proliferation of small neoplastic cells and was demarcated from the hepatic parenchyma by a thick region of granulation tissue. | Humeral chondrosarcoma was found in an 18-year-old male Hokkaido brown bear (Ursus arctos yesoensis). Necropsy revealed a large firm mass under the left superficial pectoral muscle at the axillary region. The mass involved the left shoulder joint and peripheral muscles, and connected to the head of the humerus with osteolysis. Histopathologically, the mass was composed of irregularly shaped myxomatous to cartilaginous tumor lobules. The tumor cell showed moderate nuclear atypia with a relatively high mitotic index, especially in the edges of the myxomatous lobules. | This study evaluated the clinical usefulness of serum thymidine kinase (TK) activity for diagnosing bovine leukosis cases for which clinical diagnosis was difficult (‘BL with difficult diagnosis’). Median TK activity values in 24 ‘BL with difficult diagnosis’ and 36 cattle for which BL was clinically confirmed by cytology findings of enlarged superficial lymph nodes (‘clinically confirmed BL’) were 36.8 and 39.4 U/l, respectively (no significant difference). | 5歳6カ月齢のホルスタイン種乳牛が鼻出血，眼球突出および黒色便を呈したため，地方病性牛白血病を疑った．し かし，生前の臨床検査では牛白血病の確定診断はできず，病理組織学的検査により鼻腔内骨肉腫と診断された．本症例では，明瞭な呼吸器症状や顔面の変形といった鼻腔内腫瘍を疑わせる所見が乏しく，生前診断が困難であった． Enzootic bovine leukosis was suspected in a Holstein cow aged 5-years and 6-months, as it displayed symptoms of epistaxis, proptosis, and melena.
