Southeast Asian Termitodius: a taxonomic review, with descriptions of four new species (Coleoptera: Aphodiidae) Naturalis

Four new species of the rhyparine genus Termitodius Wasmann are keyed, described and discussed: T. interruptus and monticola from Sulawesi, hammondi from Borneo, and neglectus from Sumatra. They show termitophilic adaptations; two species are microphthalmic and flightless. Notocaulus Quedenfeldt of Africa is transferred from the Rhyparinae to the Eupariini (Aphodiinae).

Taxonomic review of the Afrotropical genus Hypselogenia Burmeister (Coleoptera: Cetoniidae) Naturalis

The Afrotropical genus Hypselogenia Burmeister is diagnosed and discussed. The characters of the species and varieties are examined, and presented in a synoptic table and in an analytical key. An annotated checklist of the species and varieties is given. The Leiden collection is fully recorded. Four species are recognized. In one species three varieties are recognized, which were previously regarded as species or subspecies.

Species of the East Asian bifasciatus group in the genus Trichius Fabricius (Coleoptera, Cetoniidae) Naturalis

The East Asian Trichius bifasciatus group is diagnosed and discussed. An illustrated key to the seven known species is given. T. versutus spec. nov. from North Vietnam is described. Further observations concern: T. elegans var. taiheisanus Kano stat. nov.; T. bowringi Thomson (= T. mandarinus Redtenbacher syn. nov.); T. cupreipes Bourgoin (= T. uraiensis Kano syn. nov., Gnorimus formosanus Niijima & Kinoshita syn. nov.); T. fraterculus fraterculus Moser stat. nov., T. ƒ. duporti Bourgoin stat. nov.; T. lagopus Fairmaire (= T. ferriei Pouillaude syn. nov.). For two names lectotypes are designated.

The Asian genus Pleuronota Kraatz and allied forms: a clarification (Coleoptera: Cetoniidae) Naturalis

Two Asian genera are diagnosed and their nomenclature is revised: Pleuronota Kraatz (= Macronotiola Mikšić, syn. nov.) and Macronotops nov. (= Pleuronota sensu Mikšić). Key frameworks for both genera and checklists of the known species are given. Pleuronota alleni sp. nov. (Borneo) is described and illustrated. Some new records are given. The following new combinations had to be made. To Pleuronota: aenea (Gestro), elongata (Gory & Percheron), longiuscula (Moser), monticola (Gestro), rufosquamosa (Fairmaire), setosa setosa (Moser), setosa imuganica (Mikšić) (all from Macronotiola), patricia (Gory & Percheron) (from Macronota) ; to Macronotops: fulvoguttata (Fairmaire), fulvopilosa (Fairmaire), nigropubescens (Mikšić), ovaliceps (Arrow), sexmaculata...

Notes on African Onitini, mainly from Southeastern Kenya (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) Naturalis

Onitini collected in East Africa (mainly southeastern Kenya) are discussed. The distribution of onitine species over Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Tsavo National Park is reviewed (table 1). Three new species and one new subspecies are described and illustrated, viz., Onitis bispicticollis, kingstoni, pseudojansenii, sulcipennis subsp. naromorus (all from Kenya). For species described from other parts of Africa lectotypes are designated, viz., Onitis obscurus Lansberge, vanderkelleni Lansberge, vethi Lansberge (junior synonym of fabricii Roth), westermanni Lansberge. Onitis decellei Frey is a junior synonym of 0. violaceus Lansberge and a junior homonym of 0. decellei Paulian (junior synonym of viridulus Reiche). Further notes concern identification,...

The genus Bolbocerosoma Schaeffer is diagnosed and discussed. The Oriental and Palaearctic species are keyed and illustrated. A checklist of species and subspecies is given. Three new species are described: Bolbocerosoma dierli (Nepal), garritor (China), sikkimensis (North India). The other Asian species are discussed and their distribution is recorded. Bolbocerodema Nikolajev is here considered a subgenus within Bolbocerosoma.

The Southeast Asian genus Rhinacosmus Kraatz is diagnosed and discussed, the species are keyed, a checklist of the species is given, and the Leiden collection is recorded. Four species are recognized, including R. javanus sp. nov. (West Java). For R. pilosus (Mohnike) and inermis (Janson) lectotypes are designated; the former name appears to be a senior synonym of R. knirschi Schürhoff.

A new species of the Dung Beetle genus Synapsis Bates from Borneo, with notes on its relatives (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) Naturalis

Synapsis cambeforti spec. nov. is described and, by means of of an annotated key, compared with its two Sundaland relatives, S. ritsemae Lansberge, 1874 (recorded from Java) and S. thoas Sharp, 1875 (recorded from Java and Sumatra). A fourth species, S. cf. birmanicus Gillet, 1907, is recorded from Sumatra and West Malaysia.

The Afro-Asian Bolboceroides validus group (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae) Naturalis

Five species are placed in the Bolboceroides validus group, which is diagnosed. Four of the species are transferred from Bolboceras, viz. Bolboceras serripes Fairmaire, B. validum Klug (= rollii Müller), Β. carinicolle Laporte (= Β. capitatum Westwood, syn. nov.), B. scotti (Paulian); Bolboceroides kubaricus sp. nov. (Yemen) and B. serripes tsavoensis subsp. nov. (East Kenya, Somalia) are diagnosed. An illustrated key to the males is given. For Bolboceras carinicolle Laporte and B. capitatum Westwood lectotypes are designated. New records are given. In a footnote the synonymy of the names Bolboceras and Odonteus is briefly discussed.

Telochilus freyi, gen. nov., sp. nov., from Lake Barombi, Kumba district, Nigeria, is described and illustrated. The trituberculate mesosternum as well as certain other unique features render Telochilus remarkably remote from the other known genera of cremastochiliform beetles.

A generic reclassification of the Afrotropical Bolboceratini (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae) Naturalis

The generic classification of the Afrotropical Bolboceratini is discussed. Fourteen genera are recognized, five of them new: Bolboceratellus, Bolbodius, Bolboceratex, Namibiobolbus and Meridiobolbus. Microbolbus Vulcano et al. is synonymized with Mimobolbus Vulcano et al. Bolbaffroides and Bolboceratops are raised to generic rank. The genera are keyed, diagnosed, and their species are listed. Many new combinations are proposed, mainly for species hitherto combined with Bolboceras Kirby.

Taxonomic reviews of three small cremastochiliform genera from Asia and Africa (Coleoptera: Cetoniidae) Naturalis

Three genera are diagnosed and discussed: Pseudopilinurgus Moser, Callynomes Mohnike (= Praona Westwood, syn. nov.), and Anatonochilus Péringuey. Their species are keyed and mentioned in annotated checklists. The Leiden material is recorded. From other collections three new species are described: Pseudopilinurgus erratus from Rhodesia, Callynomes apo from the Philippines, and Anatonochilus pletus from Tanzania. Cremastocheilus cribrosus Gory & Percheron is transferred to Pseudopilinurgus; Coenochilus luzonicus Schultze is transferred to Callynomes. For two names lectotypes are designated.
