The Afrotropical genus Hypselogenia Burmeister is diagnosed and discussed. The characters of the species and varieties are examined, and presented in a synoptic table and in an analytical key. An annotated checklist of the species and varieties is given. The Leiden collection is fully recorded. Four species are recognized. In one species three varieties are recognized, which were previously regarded as species or subspecies. |

Two Asian genera are diagnosed and their nomenclature is revised: Pleuronota Kraatz (= Macronotiola Mikšić, syn. nov.) and Macronotops nov. (= Pleuronota sensu Mikšić). Key frameworks for both genera and checklists of the known species are given. Pleuronota alleni sp. nov. (Borneo) is described and illustrated. Some new records are given. The following new combinations had to be made. Onitini collected in East Africa (mainly southeastern Kenya) are discussed. The distribution of onitine species over Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Tsavo National Park is reviewed (table 1). Three new species and one new subspecies are described and illustrated, viz., Onitis bispicticollis, kingstoni, pseudojansenii, sulcipennis subsp. naromorus (all from Kenya). For species described from other parts of Africa lectotypes are designated, viz., Onitis obscurus Lansberge, vanderkelleni Lansberge, vethi Lansberge (junior synonym of fabricii Roth), westermanni Lansberge. Three new species are described: Bolbocerosoma dierli (Nepal), garritor (China), sikkimensis (North India). The other Asian species are discussed and their distribution is recorded. Bolbocerodema Nikolajev is here considered a subgenus within Bolbocerosoma. |

Five species are placed in the Bolboceroides validus group, which is diagnosed. Four of the species are transferred from Bolboceras, viz. Bolboceras serripes Fairmaire, B. validum Klug (= rollii Müller), Β. carinicolle Laporte (= Β. capitatum Westwood, syn. nov.), B. scotti (Paulian); Bolboceroides kubaricus sp. nov. (Yemen) and B. serripes tsavoensis subsp. nov. (East Kenya, Somalia) are diagnosed. An illustrated key to the males is given. For Bolboceras carinicolle Laporte and B. capitatum Westwood lectotypes are designated. New records are given. In a footnote the synonymy of the names Bolboceras and Odonteus is briefly discussed. |
