Viscosidade do Sangue como Parâmetro de Diagnóstico da Síndrome Ascítica em Linhagens de Frangos de Corte com Diferentes Suscetibilidade Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Fontes,SF; Hernandes,R; Macari,M; Bernal,FM.

Effect of dietary energy and stocking density on the performance and sensible heat loss of broilers reared under tropical winter conditions Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Nogueira,WCL; Velásquez,PAT; Furlan,RL; Macari,M.
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effects of different dietary energy levels and stocking densities on the thermoregulating parameters, live performance, and carcass traits of broilers reared under tropical winter conditions at different times of the day. In total, 1,312 one-d-old male broilers were used. Birds were allotted to three different stocking densities (10, 14 or 18 birds/m²) and two dietary energy levels (2900 or 3200 kcal ME/kg). The following parameters were evaluated:radiant heat load (RHL), rectal temperature (RT), feed intake (FI), weight gain (WG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), livability (L), production of live weight per area (WA), and carcass yield. Stocking density did not affect sensible heat loss (SRL) or rectal...

Does low-protein diet improve broiler performance under heat stress conditions? Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Furlan,RL; Faria Filho,DE de; Rosa,PS; Macari,M.
Nutrition for broilers under high temperatures is extremely important for brazilian broiler chicken industry because the amounts of consumed nutrients and environmental temperature have great effects on bird performance and carcass quality. Among diet nutrients, protein has the highest heat increment; thus, during many years, diets with low protein level were recommended in order to reduce heat production in broiler chickens under heat stress. However, reports have shown that low-protein diets have negative effects on broiler performance when environmental temperature is high, because during heat stress, low food intake associated to a low diet protein induce amino acid deficiencies. Other studies have shown that broilers fed low-protein diets increase...

Performance and carcass characteristics of broiler chickens with different growth potential and submitted to heat stress Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Rosa,PS; Faria Filho,DE; Dahlke,F; Vieira,BS; Macari,M; Furlan,RL.
In order to evaluate the effects of broiler genotype and of heat exposure on performance, carcass characteristics, and protein and fat accretion, six hundred one-day-old male broilers were randomly assigned in a 2 x 3 factorial arrangement, according to the following factors: genetic group (selected and non-selected broilers) and pair-feeding scheme (Ad32 - reared under heat stress and fed ad libitum; Ad23 - reared at thermoneutrality and fed ad libitum; Pf23 - reared at thermoneutrality and pair fed with Ad32), with a total of six treatments with four replicates of 25 birds each. Independent of pair-feeding scheme, selected broilers showed better feed conversion, higher carcass yield, and lower abdominal fat deposition rate. However, as compared to...

Intestinal and pancreas enzyme activity of broilers exposed to thermal stress Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Routman,KS; Yoshida,L; Frizzas de Lima,AC; Macari,M; Pizauro Jr.,JM.
Thirty-two Hubbard broilers were raised under commercial husbandry to evaluate the effect of temperature exposure (26 and 35ºC) on the activity of digestive enzymes at different ages (23 and 46 days) and different diet energy levels (2,900 and 3,200 kcal ME/kg). Data were analyzed in a 2x2x2 factorial arrangement (energy/temperature/age) in a completely randomized design. Animals were slaughtered after four hours of heat exposure for sampling of an intestinal segment, to extract alkaline phosphatase, and pancreas, to extract amylase, lipase and trypsin. The activity of intestinal alkaline phosphatase was influenced by energy level and animal age. Energy level of diet and environmental temperature interfered on the activity of pancreatic amylase. Lipase...
