| In 2005, a flying fish Cheilopogon cyanopterus, which doesn't figure among the Europeans faunas although pointed out in 1973, is captured in the Bay of Biscay. Following the catch of a Cubiceps gracilis near the coast in Britain, the authors recapitulating the former descriptions indicate that adults of this oceanic species remain in the open sea. Only juveniles come, rarely, to the coast. The species figures in the diet of common dolphins, striped dolphins, swordfishes and tunas. NOT CONTROLLED OCR |

| Between 1955 and 1972, La Rochelle's trawlers caught three species of Gempylidae : Nesiarchus nasutus, Johnson, 1862 (2 spec.), Promethichthys prometheus (Cuvier, 1832) (1 spec.) and Ruvettus pretiosus, Cocco, 1829 (5 spec.). The author notes that it is for the first time that P. prometheus is recorded in the Bay of Biscay. He also notes that in the Bay of Biscay all the N. nasutus are caught between January and July while the R. pretiosus are caught between August and December. |

| The authors give data on the catches during 1991 of some rare fishes to the French harbours : some fishes are recorded for the first time: Dibranchus atlanticus from the North-eastern Atlantic, Paralepis atlantica and Seriola rivoliana from the Baya of Biscay, Lepidocybium flavobrunneum from the statistical ICES Division 8 E. With the growth of the net-fishing for tunna, some pelagic rare species (Taractes asper; Luvarus imperialis, Istiophorid fishes are caught. | the author describes the juvenile stages of the P.cyanocephala Krefft, 1967. He shows that they differ from the other juvenile searsiids of the North-Eastern and Middle-Eastern Atlantic mainly by the yellowish-white pigmentation sp otter with very dark-coloured dots visible only on the encephalon of the youngest specimens (24 mm) and then over the whole body of the bigger ones (33 mm). Moreover the observations made on the light-organs development of the P.cyanocephala confirm those made on all the spp of this fam in possession of such organs. During growth, the light-organs of juvenile stages either lose their importance while changing orientation or they disappear, while a light-organ of different orientation appears in their place. |
