| Four surveys were conducted between October 1998 and April 1999 along the upper section of the Colombian Caribbean Sea continental slope with the aim of compliting marine fauna inventories. During the surveys (INVEMAR-MACROFAUNA 1) individuals of the shrimps Parapontocaris caribbaea, P. vicina, Prionocrangon pectinata and Parapontophilus gracilis (Decapoda: Crangonidae) were found and are herein registered for the first time in Colombian waters. Along with the description of the collected material and reference to site of collection, identification keys, diagnostic characters, diagrams and bathimetric and geographic distribution are included as well as comments on morphological variations of the individuals. |

| The subbottom profiling is an important means of marine engineering survey, hazardous geology study and continental shelf scientific research. The accuracy of subbottom profile data interpretation has a direct impact on the research and investigation results. Because some of profilers’ transducer and hydrophone are separately installed, when the survey area is very shallow, distortion of shallow layers will be caused if it is seen as a self-excited and self-collected single-channel seismic system. | L’étude technico-économique de la réalisation d’une écloserie de Tilapia porte sur l’estimation du coût de production de l’alevin produit en fonction des charges variables et du compte d’exploitation pour trois situations différentes. Elle tient compte des paramètres biotechniques (densité, taux de survie, taux de conversion et composition de l’aliment) émanant d’expérimentations effectuées à la station piscicole de l’INSTM à Béchima (El-Hamma/Gabès). L’analyse a porté sur trois cas de production d’alevins de 2 g : 200000 en 4 cycles, 200000 en 6 cycles et 500000 en 4 cycles. Le coût de production d’un alevin a été estimé respectivement à 0.034, 0.046 et 0.038 D. |

| Como apoyo fundamental para el diseño de un sistema de manejo en la pesquería de la Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta y Complejo de Pajarales (CGSM-CP), se evaluaron los efectos de los artes de pesca más usados sobre las cinco principales especies de la pesquería: mapalé (Cathorops mapale), mojarra rayada (Eugerres plumieri), chivo cabezón (Ariopsis sp.), lisa (Mugil incilis) y mojarra lora (Oreochromis niloticus). Para tal fin se utilizaron frecuencias de longitudes de los peces en 1994-1996 y 2000-2004, medidas a partir de capturas comerciales con los siguientes artes de pesca: atarraya, boliche, chinchorro, palangre y trasmallo. | The growth record of Ghana has been one of unevenness, as Table I.1 and Figure I.1 clearly indicate. With a reasonably high GDP growth in the 1950s and early 1960s, the Ghanaian economy began to experience a slowdown in GDP growth as of 1964. Growth was turbulent during much of the period since the mid-1960s and only began to stabilize by 1984. In 1966, 1972, 1975-1976, 1979, 1980-1983, the growth rate was negative. The years in which negative growth was experienced generally coincide with change in government and sometimes with policy changes or reversals. | The fecundity and population structure of the cockle, Anadara antiquata L., from sandy/muddy intertidal habitats in the intertidal of Ocean Road beach was examined from January to December 2001. A. antiquata is hand harvested, for domestic consumption, mainly by women and children, with the empty shells sold to traders. The sex ratio from combined data of all classes deviates significantly from 1:1 with the ratio of females to males increasing significantly above 41 mm shell length. Hermaphrodites were also observed in this size range indicating a protrandric hermaphrodite situation with males maturing earlier than females. | Oceanographic data management in Canada is coordinated by the Marine Environmental Data Service (MEDS) located in Ottawa, Canada. MEDS has broadened its scope to include biological and chemical data as well as the standard physical oceanographic observations. This report summarizes the activities of Canada and MEDS to support oceanographic data management both nationally and internationally. |
