Benefits of liquid urea and a microbial catalyst on biomass and the nutritional value of Mombasa grass Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Alquichire Rojas,Shirley Lorena; Valencia-Chin,Elide.
Abstract During 2019, an experiment was conducted at the Agricultural Experiment Station in Isabela (Puerto Rico) on an Oxisol with previously well-stablished stands of cv. Mombasa. This experiment assessed the effects of a microbial catalyst (MC) and liquid urea 22-0-0 (LU) at a rate of 168 kg ha-1 (in split applications), a mixture of LU+MC and a control on aboveground biomass, root biomass, nutritional value, nitrogen use efficiency and soil parameters on cv. Mombasa at 35-day (d) harvests during six harvests. The study was established in a completely randomized design with four replicates. The effects of LU and MC on belowground (root) biomass were determined by collecting samples in 1 m2 to determine the yield and chemical composition. Soil samples...

In vitro DISSOLUTION OF ACIDULATED ROCK PHOSPHATE BY PHOSPHATE SOLUBILIZING MICROORGANISMS Acta biol.Colomb.
MORENO QUEVEDO,Ángela Patricia; OSORIO VEGA,Nelson Walter; GONZÁLEZ MURILLO,Octavio Augusto.
The low availability of phosphorus (P) in the soil and the high cost of P fertilization are factors that limit agricultural productivity. A biotechnological alternative for to handle this problem is to use soil microorganisms capable of dissolving rock phosphate (RP), thus improving its effectiveness as a P fertilizer. This study was carried out with the objective of determining the effectiveness of Aspergillus niger -As-, Penicillium sp. -Pn-, Bacillus sp -B-. and an unidentified actinomycete -At- in the in vitro dissolution of two partially acidulated rock phosphates. The treatments consisted of 2x16 factorial arrangement [2 levels of RP: either Boyaca RP or Norte de Santander RP; 16 levels of inoculum: an uninoculated control, individual inoculations...

Azospirillum lipoferum and nitrogen fertilization effect on chlorophyll content, nutrients uptake and biometric properties of Zea mays L. Agrociencia
Davaran-Hagh,Elnaz; Mirshekari,Bahram; Reza-Ardakani,Mohammad; Farahvash,Farhad; Rejali,Farhad.
Integrated nutrient management is a major agronomic practice which brings together all methods to support plants nutritional requirement. However, the interaction of these methods together is very complex and needs to be studied in different climatic conditions. So, the effect of nitrogen fertilizer and Azospirillum lipoferum inoculation on maize (Zea mays L.) growth, yield and nutrients uptake was determined in this study. The hypothesis was that the bacterial inoculation decreases the need for N fertilizer application without reducing plant yield. Therefore, we carried out a factorial experiment in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Nitrogen at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 % concentrations of the recommended dose, i.e. 150 kg N ha-1...

Ammonium excretion, auxin production and effects of maize inoculation with ethylenediamine-resistant mutants of Pseudomonas sp. Bragantia
Ramos,Luan da Luz; Rodrigues,Elisete Pains; Silva,Mayara Barbosa; Oliveira,Jessica Ellen; Zuluaga,Mónica Yorlady Alzate; Milani,Karina Maria Lima; Oliveira,André Luiz Martinez de.
ABSTRACT Plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) comprise part of plant microbiome of biotechnological interest due to their potential to decrease the use of agrochemicals in agriculture. Among the commonly found PGPB species, the Pseudomonas genus is known for high competitiveness and efficiency in expressing growth-promotion traits. To increase the contribution of diazotrophic Pseudomonas sp. to the plant nitrogen nutrition, the strain AZM-01 was chemically mutagenized with methyl methanesulfonate (MMS), following the selection for resistance to ethylenediamine (EDA). From the 13 EDA-resistant mutant strains selected, four showed increased the ammonium excretion, with the highest value reaching up to 284% increase as compared to the wild strain, and six...

Optimization of the production of mycorrhizal inoculum on substrate with organic fertilizer BJM
Coelho,Ieda R; Pedone-Bonfim,Maria VL; Silva,Fábio SB; Maia,Leonor C.
The system for production of inoculum of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) using sand and vermiculite irrigated with nutrient solution is promising. However, organic amendments added to the substrate can stimulate sporulation of AMF and replace the nutrient solution. The aim of this study was to maximize the production of AMF (Acaulospora longula, Claroideoglomus etunicatum, Dentiscutata heterogama and Gigaspora albida) using selected organic substrates (vermicompost, coir dust and Tropstrato) together with sand and vermiculite. The production of spores varied among the tested AMF and according to the organic source added to the substrate. The vermicompost promoted higher sporulation of A. longula in relation to the other AMF and substrates. The...
