Rossato, Marieli; Schumacher, Pedro Vitor; Costa Netto, Antônio Paulino da; Stein, Vanessa Cristina; Reis, Edésio Fialho dos; Vilela, Marlúcia Souza Pádua; Paiva, Luciano Vilela.
Campomanesia adamantium is a native plant species of Brazilian Cerrado with diverse economic potential and great medicinal importance. Its sexual propagation is impaired by the recalcitrance of its seeds, which prevents effective and profitable propagation. With the purpose of establishing commercial crops and minimizing the extractive use of vegetal resources, the aim of the present study was to induce embryogenic calli in nodal segments of gabirobeira, and to determine and characterize their embryogenic phase through the establishment of a growth curve based on cellular characteristics. Calli were induced using nodal segments inoculated in WPM culture medium without the addition of hormones (control) and with different concentrations of 2,4-D, IAA, IBA,...

Development of the banana plants 'Prata Anã' and 'FHIA-01' under the effect of paclobutrazol applied on the soil Anais da ABC (AABC)
Maia,Emanuel; Siqueira,Dalmo L.; Salomão,luiz C.C.; Peternelli,Luiz A.; Ventrella,Marília C.; Cavatte,Rithiely P.Q..
Under some cultivation conditions, excessive growth of the pseudostem of banana plants can be considered a limiting factor, and thus, the use of growth regulators can constitute a valid alternative. This work aimed to evaluate the action of paclobutrazol on the growth of the pseudostem of banana plants and other characteristics of their development. An experiment was installed with five paclobutrazol doses (0; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; and 2.0 g of a.i. plant-1) combined with two banana plant cultivars ('Prata Anã' and 'FHIA-01'). Paclobutrazol did not affect the number of days from planting to flowering, total leaf area and leaf emission rate. However, it increased leaf permanence on the plants and sucker number, reduced the foliar area of the leaves emitted after...

Ripening of ‘Kumagai’ guavas and anthracnose control as affected by methyl jasmonate Bragantia
Silva,Barbara Marçon Pereira da; Binoti,Raquel Mantovani; Cia,Patrícia; Valentini,Sílvia Regina de Toledo; Bron,Ilana Urbano.
ABSTRACT Methyl jasmonate (MJ) is an endogenous regulator that can influence fruit ripening and the defense system against pathogens. This work verified the influence of this regulator on postharvest physiology, control of anthracnose and physicalchemical attributes of ‘Kumagai’ guava (Psidium guajava L.). Guavas harvested at mature-green and ripe stages were treated with 0, 1 and 10 μmol∙L−1 MJ as gas in hermetic containers (200 L) with air circulation for 24 h. Fruit were inoculated with Colletotrichum gloeosporioides spore suspension (105 spores∙mL−1) 24 and 48 h after treatment. During ripening, at 25 °C and 80 – 90% of relative humidity, respiration, ethylene production, anthracnose incidence, severity and quality of guavas were assayed. Data were...

Ulisses,Cláudia; Camara,Terezinha Rangel; Willadino,Lilia; Albuquerque,Cynthia Cavalcanti de; Brito,Júlio Zoé de.
The present work evaluated the development of embryogenic callus from transversal ovary sections. The experiments were carried out under two experimental regimes using combinations of IAA (0; 5.71; 8.56; 11.42; 14.27μM) and 2,4-D (0; 13.57; 18.10; 22.62μM) or combinations of 2,4-D with BA (0; 4.43; 6.65; 8.87; 11.09μM). Assessments were made of anatomical aspects of the callus and for the presence of embryogenic structures using cytochemical and histological analyses and stereomicroscopic and scanning electronic microscopic observations. Treatments with 2,4-D and IAA produced friable calluses demonstrating cellular acquisition of morphogenetic competence as well as the formation of pro-embryogenic sectors. The expression of embryogenic program could be...

Influence of Plant Growth Regulators on In Vitro Shoot Multiplication and Plantlet Formation in Cassia angustifolia Vahl BABT
Siddique,Iram; Bukhari,Najat Abdullah Wahab; Perveen,Kahkashan; Siddiqui,Iffat.
ABSTRACTAn effective and improved plant regeneration system was successfully developed using shoot tip explants taken from a two years old mature plant of Cassia angustifolia. The effect of different cytokinins, [6-benzyladenine (BA), Kinetin (Kin) and thidiazuron (TDZ)] at different concentrations (0.5-10 µM) were evaluated as augmented with Murashige and Skoog (MS 1962) medium. Among all the cytokinins tested, TDZ (5.0 µM) was optimum in inducing multiple shoots as compared to BA and Kin. The rate of shoot multiplication was increased when optimal concentration (5.0 µM) of BA and Kin was tested with different concentration (0.1-1.0 µM) of Indole-3- acetic acid (IAA). Among all the combinations tested, the maximum rate of shoot multiplication was obtained...
