CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2-20-2 is a short-growth duration rice variety which is suitable for growing in the rain-fed area. This rice variety derived from CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2, a product ofthe crossing of three cultivars; i.e. Suphanburi 1, IR64 and CNT86074-25-9-1(Suphanburi1/IR64//CNT86074-25-9-1), that still expressed its genetic diversity while it was growing in a breeder seeds production field. This leaded to the selection of the elite lines, CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2-20-2 which had an early maturation and short growth duration so that it could be harvested shortly at about 92 days after sowing. It had a fairly high yield potential of1,004 kg/rai with the average yields of 681 kg/rai, which is comparable with theRD41 (742 kg/rai), but higher thanRD43 (666...

Irrigated paddy fields are the rice growing areas having high yield potential. Two significant factors enhancing high yield are the well-adapted variety and appropriate management. PSL05101-93-1-32 is a promising rice line derived from the 3-way cross of PSL00508-3-1-1-4/IR66738-118-1-2//IR67966-188-2-2-1 in 2005. It has as high yield potential as 965 kg/rai (6.03 t/ha). The average grain yield is 730 kg/rai, greater than PSL2, CNT1 and RD47 varieties by 14, 13 and 7%, respectively. The maturity is 115 days after sowing by transplanting method. Plant height is 83-90 cm. This promising line is a non-glutinous long grain rice having straw-color husk. The paddy rice seed dimension is 10.4×2.61×2.10 mm in width × length × thickness, respectively. The paddy...

Population dynamic of golden apple snails related in rice planting phase at Chiang Rai provinces was conducted at irrigated rice field and rainfed rice field in Pan District from January 2012 – November 2014. The objective of this research is to determine the dynamics of golden apple snail population, which snails (applied removal sampling method) were randomly sampled consecutively by Quadrat sampling (1x1 m) at two-week interval. The results showed that the highest snails - density at irrigated rice field was in after harvesting phase but at rainfed rice field the highest density was in booting stage. Snail density showed slightly correlated with water level in rainfed rice field (rs = 0.517, P = 0.011, n = 23) but there was no correlation observed at...

Disease assessments were also conducted in the farmers’ fields in 16 provinces responsible by participating offices in the Upper and Lower North, Central, East and South of Thailand. The main objective was to investigate the relationship between meteorological data and disease epidemics through field survey and carry out experiment on continuous rice cultivation by sowing popular rice variety every month. Three significant rice pathogens i.e. blast, bacterial leaf blight and ragged stunt were collected for diversification study. Results revealed that there were disease epidemics in 19...

Blast and bacterial leaf blight diseases are major diseases, which cause severe losses to yield and quality of rice in north eastern region. An evaluation of reaction of rice cultivars/lines to blast and bacterial leaf blight is one of the activities under the program of germplasm improvement in north eastern region with the objective of selecting for the rice lines resistant to leaf and neck blast and to bacterial leaf blight. The experiments were carried out in 2013 at Sakon Nakorn Rice Research Centre using 99 rainfed lowland rice lines and 35 irrigated rice lines. An evaluation of leaf blast at seedling stage was conducted under the upland, short-row conditions. An evaluation of neck blast was conducted at flowering stage by spraying a spore suspension...

According to the environmental conservation and health care, the production of organic agricultural products is required and the requirement will be increased continuously. The cultivation of white rice with high amylose content in its starch is also widely done in the irrigated rice field in the Central Plain. Therefore, environmental management in high amylose rice production for organic standards is necessary to seek. The development of such management was implemented in 5 activities including: (1) the test of appropriate planting methods for weed control; (2) the solarization for organic rice production; (3) reconditioning environment by using plants during transition period for organic rice production; (4) environmental air control by using buffer...
